With 18 and 40 already taken, Alex Tanguay wearing is probably wearing 13 or 81 in Montreal...

?With Serge Savard?s No. 18 already in the rafters at the Bell Centre and Maxim wearing the 40 that I wore in Calgary, I haven?t decided what I?ll wear with the Canadiens, yet,? said Tanguay from his home in Lac-Beauport, before leaving on a golf trip. ?I wouldn?t mind the No. 13, but if Mats decides to come to Montreal, I?ll happily to leave it for him. Maybe I can just invert the No. 18 and go with No. 81. We?ll see.?

I am willing to bet that Luke Schenn will be wearing #51 in Toronto. He normally wears either 5 or 15 but since 5 is retired, 15 is taken, 55 is taken, the next best bet would be 51.

The Oilers' website has Eric Cole keeping #26. Lubomir Visnovsky has yet to be assigned a number since #17 (the number he wore in Los Angeles) is retired in Edmonton in honor of Jari Kurri.

Actually, he wore 17, but even that's not available due to Jari Kurri.

You beat me to the edit ... I knew it had a 7 somewhere in it though. ^_^

My bet is Marian Hossa will wear #81 in Detroit. Kirk Maltby probably won't give up his number and other than that, my bet's based only on spit and a song. What I'm sayin' here is, I got nuthin'!

Here are the number conflicts I have...

Calgary - (#12) What will Rene Bourque wear?

Columbus - (#20) Who gets it, Huselius or Umberger?

Detroit - (#18) Will Hossa get long time Red Wing Maltby to give it up? (as previously mentioned)

Minnesota - (#15) Does Brunette get his number back from Sheppard?

Montreal - Tanguay - #13 or #81?

- Laraque - #27 not avaiable (Kovalev), what does he wear?

- Denis - #31 not avaiable (Price), what does he wear?

NYR - (#19) Does Gomez give it up to Naslund?

San Jose - (#4) Will McLaren give it up to Blake?

Tampa Bay - (#10) Who gets it, Jokinen or Roberts?

Toronto - (#31) Kubina or CuJo?

Toronto - (#31) Kubina or CuJo?

Here's the big question. If Sundin doesn't return woukd Kubina be permitted to take #13 like he wore in Tampa? Thus giving Joseph #31.

I'm not sure how I feel about this even if Sundin leaves.

I would hope that #13 is untouchable in Toronto after Sundin's gone.

Same, should be retired but you never know.

for the Sharks, I'm assuming that Doyle and Lukowich will keep thier holdover numbers from the Lightning of 22 and 37 respectively.

and I am guessing that Blake is gonna don his traditional number 4, currently worn by Kyle McLaren. BUt I'm thinking that Kyle may revert back to his old Bruins number of 18, previously worn by the now traded away Matt Carle, just so Blake the Flake can have his number.

Well Toronto doesn't retire numbers so I would imagine 13 isn't "untouchable."

Brunette wore #18 in Washington, so perhaps he'll go back to that number. It's possible he'll try to get #15. Parrish got his #21 from Koivu when he came to Minnesota.

:o Keith Aucoin is listed on the Caps website to be wearing #37. hell if they let Jeff Friesen wear #12 they should let Aucoin wear #37.
