It was invented here and we taught the world how to play it. Then a bunch of Euros tell us what rules we have to play our game by? It doesn't work that way, pal. We tell the rest of the world what rules will be used for basketball, not the other way around. Does the world community take our advice when it comes to futbol (soccer)? I don't think so. Yes, I am an old fart who watched the game live on ABC-TV when it was originally broadcast. And the screwing we got after the game and all during the appeal process has stuck with me because anyone who saw the game live knows how we got hosed. Most of you people on this board weren't even born when the game was played. You have no comprehension of how tense the times were back then. The 1972 Olympics had the terrible tragedy of the Israeli hostage crisis. The games should have ended right after the attack on the helicopter at the Munich Airport. But they went on. But the anamous after that game srill lingers with many of us oldtimers. We (the USA) were right. We got screwed. And we should never forget. You know the old adage. Those who forget about the past are doomed to repeat it. Never give in. Don't back down. Stand up for what's right. Be it sports or life. Stick up for the USA!
