the jerseys that will be worn by the Eastern and Western Conference NHL All-Stars will include Reebok's patent-pending Smoothfit? performance name and numbering technology, which allows players to move more efficiently on the ice and will contribute to improved moisture management. The Smoothfit? performance name and numbering technology eliminates up to 35 percent of the weight inherent to the traditional name and numbering system, which in many cases, includes multiple layers of twill.

Does this mean the advent of single-layer screened customization for authentic NHL jerseys?

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

Why would reffs need lighter jerseys? Am I missing something?

To keep up with all the players who've been skating 9% faster since last season. :P

I'm going to guess it is something like the heat-pressed Lextra numbers on MLB batting practice jerseys and various scoccer kits.

I personally don't think moving away from layered twill is a good move.

Who cares? It's a ref? Do we go to see the refs? No. But I have to defend them, unlike other sports where they are fat, bet on games, drunk(soccer), or are just so old and senile that they can't remember a coin flip, hockey officials are the best conditioned athletes in all of sports.

Eh. I like them.

And I've always wondered why twill was always used over something lighter. I know we all like the quality better, but for a uniform that does everything else to be great for play, that clashes.

But of course it's announced right after I sent my new Blues jersey in for $85 sewn on twill customization. Neato!

And simultaneously, on the whole, the worst at their jobs.

I like 'em, but I always thought that the orange band snapped on so that the shirt could be for a R or a LM. I guess this means the end of that.

I thought they were supposed to have these for the new season, not the All-Star game. Oh well. I don't mind them...
