dralec
Wow! Jostens has now bought its biggest two rivals, Intergold and Balfour. Although Jostens has pretty much cornered most pro leagues, Balfour still had a very successful college championship ring business. So now really competitions comes down to Jostens, Tiffany, Herff Jones and Kay/Masters of Design. I am going to guess pretty much 90% or more of all future SB rings will be made by Jostens, Tiffany might get 1 or 2. Both Red Sox and Cardinals will be getting their rings from Jostens again I am assuming.I think buying Intergold was the best business decision for them, their owner who is now the Master Jeweler at Jostens revolutionized the championship ring business by making some visually stunning rings, but he simply could not compete with Jostens and Balfour once price of gold and diamond started going up. His 1999 FSU Ring, 2002 Stanley Cup ring and of course the Florida Marlins ring designs were absolutely stunning and made everyone realize they could do so much more with Championship Ring side of their business.Me for one, I can not wait for the new Red Sox ring and based on the Miami Heat and Blackhawks collection I am sure I will be purchasing one their super fan rings. sports-rings.com
Dralec, you bring up some great points! As a collector the buyout does not effect me. I wonder if prices will rise for the teams? It's well known that these ring companies break or lose money on the rings as a way to show off and market the rings. They do make money when players and staff buy pendants, and other items. And when allowed make a ton of money on fan rings! On the major league level, Herff Jones does very little work (they did the colts twice in the last ten years) and Tiffany has carved out a nice piece of business (Bucs, super bowl 37, Giants Superbowl 42 and 46, Saints #44, Redskins #26) and the buyout is probably a nice opportunity for Tinffany. Masters of Design is not up to the quality of the companies already mentioned.

Nothing that they've done has shown me anything at all. I'm hoping when I do graduate I can get something through Jostens instead. As much as I love sports team championship rings, I could never see myself dropping that kinda cash on someone else's jewelry. It'd be a gem to own (and I'm certainly not knocking collecting them. Maybe when I'm making a lot of money, I'd do the same!), but it'd be so much nicer to actually earn one. Hell, now that I think about it, that's probably bucket list item #1 for me. Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) ridenlow71
Lance Moores Original Saints Super Bowl Ring Going To AuctionHere's the story.... http://sports-rings.com/wordpress1/2013/12/21/lance-moores-original-saints-super-bowl-ring-going-to-auction/I can kinda understand but yet the original is just that. I understand the whole changed hands and whatnot but I'd still prefer the original. Wish I had the cash to get my hands on it. sports-rings.com
That young man's remarkably level-headed. I can understand where he's coming from.I can kinda understand but yet the original is just that. I understand the whole changed hands and whatnot but I'd still prefer the original. From the stories I have seen over the last 10 or so years, it seems players reluctantly get a replacement ring and often want the original back, even if it's a worn and not in original condition.Glad things worked out for Lance Moore and he got what he wanted. sports-rings.com
While not exclusively a football or super bowl auction, I believe the Goldin auctions event is heavily tilted toward football.Hunt will have a super bowl themed auction that should finish up the day before the big game. I hope they have some rings too!And Leland's current auction has a lot of baseball and one old-AFL championship ring in it's auction, that ends January 10th. sports-rings.com
Yahoo with an article on the ring going up for sale.http://sports.yahoo....27936--nfl.htmlnot much info besides who he is.Thanks for the post and link. The author did a poor job of researching this. He made it sound like it was a lifestyle choice, that the player did not want the ring. These players cherish the rings and don't choose to part with them. Damien Berry had issues with the law, a suspended licencse, and like many other players probably ran out of money and had no choice but to sell the ring or lost it at a pawn shop.
