Brandon Spikes suspends himself for a game, because Urban Meyer doesn't have the balls to do it.

I wonder how many games Rodney Harrison (or any player for that matter) would have missed if the internet/mass media actually saw what goes on in a pile.

Joe Schad (the writer of that article) needs to check his grammar and spelling a bit more closely. Then again, it is ESPN, so I wouldn't expect too much professionalism.

Unless the Hawkeyes have a major mircle up their collective sleeves, it looks like Iowa's dream season is about to come to a crashing end.

Truth be told...I don't know how they got as far as they did, as often as they turn the ball over. Teams often can't survive on luck alone. And speaking of luck, their starting QB Stanzi got injured in the first half--early omen??? (Of course, Northewstern's backup QB is in there too, so that may be a push.)

Staying in the world of the Big Televen...if the Wolverines don't pull some major magic out of their arses, some serious tensions may very well to boil over* in Ann Arbor once this game is over.

*pun totally and completely intended.

Thanks for playing, Iowa. Looks like a Florida-Bama NCG is coming, becuase we know that a one-loss Bama or Florida would be put in ahead of an undefeated Texas.

Do you say this stuff just to get a reaction or are you really that out of touch with reality?

Texas has not truly been relevant since the 60s.

Put the cuckoo back in the clock, Will.

I don't entirely agree with the championship setup in college football myself, but a/ I find it highly unlikely two teams from the same conference would be selected to the BCS NCG, especially if they end up meeting in their own conference championship game, and b/ I really don't think the voters would be so crass as to vote the lesser of those two SEC teams over an undefeated Texas based off name recognition alone, if the season shakes down like that. (Can't speak for the computer element, however, as I have no clue how that's even formulated.)

And is your memory really that damn short, saying Texas ain't been relevant in nearly 50 years? Didn't they just win a 'ship just a few short years ago?

(I know Imma regret even getting baited into this discussion, but, still...)

EDIT: by the way, Purdue just pulled off the upset in Ann Arbor.

Hey, ask any knowledgeable football fan - the SEC is just playing on a higher level than anyone else.

Are they really? I think the Big East would have justalittle something to say about that.

Not saying that they're a better conference than the SEC, but from what I've seen this year, it's definitely up there in terms of the level of competitiveness and overall quality of play.

If the SEC East and SEC West were two separate conferences, they'd be the top two conferences in college football. There is no conference that's even close.

Yeah but they aren't. The National League still sends a representative to The World Series every year despite the fact that top to bottom The American League is better. The AFC still sent a team to The Super Bowl back in the 80's and 90's even though The NFC was cleaning their clocks on a consistent basis.

The SEC may be the best conference in College Football but they will never end up having two teams in the BCS title game. You know this yet you insist on constantly making some of the most absurd claims I've ever seen. And around here that's saying something.

On a side note, could you PM me with a list of the drugs you're taking? B)

Oh, and goodnight Irish. Game over!

It's 14-0 in the early goings of the 2nd Quarter, will. I know Navy's triple option is a beast to deal with, but to say Notre Dame is done at this point is nuts.

Oh, and can someone explain to me why everyone is slobbering over the SEC when there are only two really good teams (Florida and Alabama) and everyone else (except Vandy and Mississippi State) are just 'good' teams?

For the same reason that everyone wore parachute pants in the 80's. It's just what's fashionable right now.

I'm not knocking The SEC (an Ohio State fan would be silly to) but they aren't "lethal" from top to bottom. Their top teams are among the best out there. Their very good teams would probably compete for conference titles in some other conferences but it's not like any SEC team is a favorite over anyone besides another SEC team.

It's not everyone, it's willmorris. And he's proven on numerous occasions that he's bats**t crazy.

With RichRod "chasing points" at questionable times (AGAIN) and the early success Harbaugh is having at The Farm today, someone may have coached himself into a job, and someone out. now, Jim should not expect a restroom next to his office at Schembechler Hall if it not already there.
