I'm lovin me some Green Bay defense.

It sure took them long enough to finally bring their A-game.

Green Bay's O-line still can't stop a defensive rush to save their lives, but Aaron Rodgers got sacked "only" four times this week. So it seems he and/or Mike McCarthy are finally starting to figure out how to adjust to the lack of protection.

Former 'Skins/Texans GM Charley Casserly stated on The NFL Today broadcast that he believes at least 60% of Rodgers sack total is his own fault. I know Packer fans are incapable of finding a single fault with their QBs (sounds alot like Bears fans, too), but if a guy in the biz thinks OVER HALF of the sacks are the QBs fault, I'm probably going to believe him.

actually i am a packers fan and i DO think that a lot of the sacks are rodgers' fault. just watch the games. hes got time to throw at first, he just never does.

What's sad is that you're taking it so personally. There are people out there that take pleasure when any team loses. I'm sure it's even happened to you before. No need to get all butt sore over it though, it happens.

Plus, it's not just that the team loses, it's also that all those insufferable fans have to turn it down a few decibels today. That's certainly worth rooting for!

I'm not "butt sore" over any of this, I was just stating a fact. Don't get butt sore over it.

You are not stating a fact if you use the word "seem."

I saw, I came, I left.

I actually thought Belichick had the right idea, it was just that he made a mental error is using the final timeout before the 2 minute warning.

Without any timeouts, he couldn't challenge the placement of the ball and therefore gave Peyton Manning a short field to work with.

Every coach is going to have one of those moments where everyone is going to go 'Huh? Why did he do that?!?'. The Ol' Hoodie is no exception.

If Jigga hit to close to home, I'll refer you to two other replies....

I was pulling for the Pats actually. I'm not a fan of either them or the Colts, so all things considered I was pulling for NE to end Indy's unbeaten season.

Though I'll say this again. When your favourite team is one of the best teams in any league, people will be happy to see them fail. That's just how it works. Deal with it.

General reaction is this: People seem more happy that the Patriots lost, rather than that their own team won.

That's quite sad.

1. I don't think that's true. I think people are generally happy when the Patriots lose because of recent history, but if you gave them a choice between watching their favorite team win or watching the Patriots lose almost everyone in here would pick the former over the latter.

2. You've been fortunate enough to see three Patriots super bowl victories this decade. In exchange for that you have to deal with people hating them. Ask Cowboys fans of the 90's or 49ers fans of the 80's or Steelers fans from whenever. It's only natural that you don't get to enjoy the heights of NFL success without experiencing some backlash.

A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Detroit, MI courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible..

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Detroit Lions whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

I was just looking at The Titans remaining schedule. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see them go 6-1 and climb into playoff contention. They have one game left that I would call a likely loss; on the road at Indy. They play The Cardinals too but that's a home game and let's be honest, any one of a variety of Cardinals teams could show up for that one. Every other game on the rest of their schedule looks winnable. We all knew they weren't as bad as their start. Now let's see if they can keep it together. Stranger things have happened. Hope is alive in Nashville.

I believe I mentioned in here a few weeks ago that the Titans could still win 9 of their final 10 games, as they were sitting with an 0-6 record and fresh off a 59-0 beating....

Great minds think alike. I didn't see your post stating the same thing but that's probably due to the painkillers I'm taking. :D

The Titans were never as bad as the media made them seem, just like the Broncos were never as good as the media made them seem.

Mac, it wasn't the media that put down the Titans or propped up the Broncos. The Titans were 0-6, the Broncos were 6-0. What else are they supposed to say? I honestly got sick of hearing how the Titans were the best 0-6 team in NFL history...

Titans owner Bud Adams was fined $250,000 for repeatedly flippin' the bird to Bills fans (apparently). Two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Wow. It's nice to see Goodell sending a message. I fully expected him to be soft on owners/coaches/management run afoul of the personal conduct policy. Good for you, Commish.

I saw this exact joke, but replace the Lions with the Bucs, on a Tampa Bay message board a few weeks ago.

Doesn't make it any less true though...

Speaking of the Bucs, I'm happier every week with their performance. Their D is finally starting to figure out the defensive scheme and is beginning to resemble an actual NFL defense, rather than just a bunch of buffoons who got lost on their way to the figure skating competition. That and Josh Freeman is looking like he's going to be the next big NFL quarterback. I'm happy to say that at this point, I was dead wrong about him. We've never had a QB as athletic as him, the D is picking it up, Raheem is beginning to get comfortable with what he's doing, we have a kicker who's looked great for the first time since Gramatica (:censored: you, Nugent!), and there's no way we pull a schedule as brutal as this season's next year. Yup, I'm calling it now. If Tampa can shore up their D line, they'll be the dark horse next year.

I'll say this about Belichick. It was a 'bad decision' because you never actually see it made. If not for a bobble by a guy with some pretty good hands, they get that first. I dislike Belichick as much as absolutely anybody, but that guy made the decision that he thought, and I thought, gave his football team the best chance to win the game. Regardless of what you thought of the call, it's refreshing to see a coach playing to win the football game rather than playing to keep his job. Call it the worst call ever, he put the best offense in the league on the field with one play to make two yards. They make two yards there more times than not. Just as Peyton drives 70 yards for the win more times than not. I like it, I wish more coaches in this league had the balls that Belichick does.

Why was Bud flipping off the Bills?

I cant figure that won out, and some should tell Good Time Roger to get a :censored:ing sense of humor. He makes Joe Friday look like a comedian.

Roger was in the same booth. He is obligated to do something about this when it happens right in front of him.

Goodell was in the booth earlier, but he had left by the time Bud went off.

People think this sh** is funny when an owner does it, but if it had been a player, he'd have been called every name in the book. Besides, Bud could have just told Bills fans, "I'm riiiiiiiich, beeeeeotch!" or "I'm Bud Adams, bitch! I own a professional football team. I'm one of the richest mother:censored:ers in America." Sh** like that....

Nah...it was a bad decision because you don't go for it on your own 28. That's why you 'never actually see it made'. I'm all for bold coaching, but on your own 48, maybe; past the 50, sure. The point is to make it as hard for the other guy to win as you possibly can, and that has to be balanced against trying to win it yourself "at one bold stroke" as the Japanese Navy said about WWII (that didn't work out too well either). And remember the old saying about passing, that three things can happen and two of them are bad? Definitely figures in to this decision as well. There are just too many things that can go wrong.

Which brings me to...why - and you see this again and again - when teams need say ten yards, the guy runs a nine-yard pattern? In this case, run a four-yard pattern and if what happened happens, you've still got the first down. Just never understood running a pattern short of the first down marker or the the goal line when you have to have a first down or TD.

Again, the call itself wasn't THAT bad. Sure, the argument can be made that given the field position he should have allowed his D the chance to win the game. Given how well Manning had been planning up to that point, however, going for it on 4th down isn't that out there. The problem I have with the situation is that Bilichick burnt his last time out before the 4th down play. They had gone for it on 3rd down and thrown an incompletion. Surly Bilichick and Brady knew ahead of time what the play was going to be on 4th down if the 3rd down play didn't work out. By burning that timeout they threw away their chance to challenge the spot of the ball, a challenge they very well could have won. Going for it wasn't Bilichick's mistake, poor clock/TO management was.

Icecap, if I hit Brass too close to home, does it mean I was right? :P

I believe so sir, I believe so :D
