2009-10 NFL off season thread

Since teams knew darn well which moves they were going to make, it seems wrong to make moves on Good Friday. Dallas cuts Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin.

Why? It's not a fed holiday, it's a regular business day for most people. I'm lucky, because the NYSE is closed, so I don't have to work, but most people I know are working. The church can't stand in the way of acquiring a fourth round draft pick.

It is a slow news day, that is why they did it.

I have a strong feeling that the McNabb trade will go down on 4/5, because that's the Phillies' opening day, and the Eagles are extremely sensitive about losing press time to the Phils. They've held back things in the past to avoid being 100% eclipsed by their neighbors (and rivals.)

Wow, what a bunch of babies the Eagles must have in upper management.

I'm in favor of the Browns acquiring Brown and Gocong. By a lot.

Yeah, pretty much. They're very shrewd, and (I'll admit it) very smart (though they can outsmart themselves), but they never want to leave their sport as #1 in public eye, despite an opportunity to "partner" with the Phils, and mooch off their success.

Man, the Skins must've traded THE HOUSE to get him. I can't wait to see just how much they had to gave up.

I'm totally stunned. Not only is McNabb no longer a Philadelphia Eagle (something I didn't think I'd ever see), but the Eagles have dealt to the Washington Redskins, a division foe. That's just crazy!

37th overall pick this year, and 3rd or 4th rounder next year. Not a king's ransom by any stretch of the imagination.

I can't think of anything the Redskins have that the Eagles would want aside from draft picks. I'd imagine that the Eagles have gotta be getting a first rounder out of this to be sending McNabb to a division rival.

And you can kiss Jason Campbell goodbye. It was more than obvious that Shanahan wanted nothing to do with this guy from day one.

And that sound you heard was the Rams' retarded brinkmanship with Washington regarding the #1 overall pick crashing and burning. Just like every other attempt by this front office to plot, scheme, or maneuver. <_<

Wow... Washington had to offer something the Eagles couldn't refuse.

You know how weird it's going to be seeing McNabb in a Redskins jersey? You'd think it was some dumb kid playing Madden 10 and did a Fantasy Draft for his Franchise.

If anyone other than the NFC East had made the trade, I would have thought the Eagles received too high of compensation for McNabb. But this deal seems fair to me.

That's it? Wow. I can't believe that there were even reports that the Raiders were (supposedly) willing to give up Nnamdi Asomugha for McNabb.

How about the balls on Andy Reid to trade McNabb within the division. I mean, I'm sure Eagles fans wanted him gone, but now they're gonna see him two times a year. How about that?

Anyways, someone on twitter said it best about next season's Skins: If this were 2006, they'd be Super Bowl favorites.

I was in the car when I heard them break into the local program around 8:00. I was a little surprised at the timing, but not really, considering that baseball starts tomorrow, and this was the only way the Eagles could guarantee themselves a spot on either the front and / or back of either of the papers. Yes - they are that petty. They HATE that the Phillies take away attention from them, and try to steal their thunder at any opportunity. I can't immediately think of specifics, but it has happened before, and it will happen again.

BringBackTheVet hasn't posted about this yet. He's saving up. He's gonna do to posting what Peter North did to

No eFacials... yet. There have been reports on the local newspapers' blogs about reports from Jay Glazer that the Redskins were serious about making things happen, but I dismissed them because I never thought they'd trade him within the division. Now that it's done, I don't really care. It's a risk trading him to Washington - there's always that chance that he could come in here and light the Eagles up. But I think that the Eagles aren't really on the cusp of a Super Bowl, so they just need to make the best deal that they can, and not worry about anything else. Honestly, I don't think the Redskins are that good, even with the upgrade at QB. We'll see though.

Andy Reid also apparently gave McNabb the short list, and told him they were going to do right by him and respect his wishes not to go to a crappy team. Supposedly, McNabb wanted to play for Shanahan, and Reid is "kinda" confirming that right now, without exactly saying it.

Now that it's happened, it's a weird feeling. I'm happy it's over, and I'm looking forward to watching what Kevin Kolb can do, but I'm not jumping around and celebrating the end of the McNabb era like I originally thought I would. I'm glad he's gone, I hope he gets some cheers when he comes back, but it was time. After that playoff game, there was no way he could play here again.

Now, Kevin Kolb goes from the guy who could win a Super Bowl if he only got a chance, to the guy that actually has that chance. It's a little scarier now that it's a reality, but let's see what the kid's got. I think he's going to be very good... but we'll see.

The Eagles have just assured themselves a few years of last place.

Since you are certainly a sports expert, I'll have to accept this as fact. They're doomed. You should write about your take on the trade, and post it to your site. After I have a third grader read it to me, I'll respond with my view of your views.
