Have they ever looked into have 2 referees like the NHL does? That would make it alot easier on the center official and IMO has improved the quality of play in the NHL.

Remember: When it comes to FIFA, common sense hurts...

This is true also when it comes to the NHL most of the time, but its one of the few changes that has worked.

Im less a fan of chips than replays.

Computers make mistakes. The human eye (while being used by an honest, caring, objective referee) doesn't.

Come on, maz. Not after all of the crazy officiating that we've had going on. Jim Joyce & Koman Coulibaly are honest, caring, and objective...but they made some huge mistakes.

What?

Pretty sure it does.

Of course it doesn't. Right, Jim Joyce?

Now before we all go ahead and burn me at the stake right off like people here seem to enjoy doing, take a second and actually think about this first...

Im saying that the human eyes when judging a replay would be better than a computer chip.

Offsides and guys making it on base are judgement calls that are very hard to make as you consider two different things at the same time. And they cannot be reviewed and need to be made on the spot.

In reviewing a goal, a human can see a ball completely cross the line better than some newfangled chip can tell you, and you can see it as repeatedly as you want from many angles and you don't have to make the call right that second.

Anyone can :censored: up a judgment call. Few can honestly screw up a replay (provided there is conclusive evidence).

Evidently this is one of those few cases.

What the NHL and FIFA should do is give change the titles of the current officials who aren't referees (linesman in hockey andI guess they're called assistant referees in soccer?) and give them the same power as referees. This would apply to everyone in hockey and soccer except for the offsides judge in soccer.

They needed to make up a 9 goal difference, which could've come from the Elephants themselves or with help from Brazil.

Either way, since Brazil & Portugal decided to dive all over the field today and Ivory Coast slowed down considerably after their 2nd goal, that's out of the window, and the Elephants are done for 2010. Kind of disappointing that the team never really got off to a good start, especially with Drogba suffering a broken elbow before the Cup even started. Also wish that they could've played just a little bit better against Brazil, and that Portugal wouldn't have went all KAMEHAMEHA on North Korea. At least they ended this one on a high note like they did in Germany.

I hope Ivory Coast can make it to Brazil 2014, and get into an easier group. This is a very talented soccer nation, they at least deserve a chance to go deep in a tournament.

2-0 Cote D'Ivoire.

They're gonna need 5 more of them, plus Brazil to put more effort into their game vs. Portugal, to have any prayer.

I thought they needed 9 goals?

Was it 9? Well, they got 3. Nice effort, but we'll see ya in 2014, CIV. :D

I think we have a new contender for worst match of the tournament.

Brazil v Portugal.

One of them is going to meet Spain and one of them is going to get beat by La Roja.

brazil is not winning this world cup.

Meh...they had nothing to play for, a draw sent them to the top of the group, no Kaka playing, Portugal bacically playing 10 men behind the ball. I would judge them completely on this game

Claudio Bravo just had a mental collapse coming way out of his box to challenge only to have David Villa chip it right over his head.

1-0 Spain, Swiss fans got a little more scared.
