The sky is blue

Water is wet

and

Bob Sanders may miss the rest of the season

I love him when he's healthy. He's a huge reason why the Colts won Super Bowl XLI, but even then he was just healthy for the playoff run. It was a good streak, not indicative of the defense that entire season.

But he needs to go, and the Colts need to find a serious starting replacement. I'm sick of reading the same headline year after year. Melvin Bullitt does the job very well on a stand in basis, but not full-time.

Love your play, Bob. But I think the Colts need to part ways with ya.

Reggie Bush is forfeiting the Heisman. His statement:

===

One of the greatest honors of my life was winning the Heisman Trophy in 2005. For me, it was a dream come true.

But I know that the Heisman is not mine alone. Far from it. I know that my victory was made possible by the discipline and hard work of my teammates, the steady guidance of my coaches, the inspiration of the fans, and the unconditional love of my family and friends. And I know that any young man fortunate enough to win the Heisman enters into a family of sorts. Each individual carries the legacy of the award and each one is entrusted with its good name.

It is for these reasons that I have made the difficult decision to forfeit my title as Heisman winner of 2005. The persistent media speculation regarding allegations dating back to my years at USC has been both painful and distracting. In no way should the storm around these allegations reflect in any way on the dignity of this award, nor on any other institutions or individuals. Nor should it distract from outstanding performances and hard-earned achievements either in the past, present or future.

For the rest of my days, I will continue to strive to demonstrate through my actions and words that I was deserving of the confidence placed in me by the Heisman Trophy Trust. I would like to begin in this effort by turning a negative situation into a positive one by working with the Trustees to establish an educational program which will assist student-athletes and their families avoid some of the mistakes that I made. I am determined to view this event as an opportunity to help others and to advance the values and mission of the Heisman Trophy Trust.

I will forever appreciate the honor bestowed upon me as a winner of the Heisman. While this decision is heart-breaking, I find solace in knowing that the award was made possible by the support and love of so many. Those are gifts that can never be taken away.

OK. So who had KC beating San Diego? Oh that's right...I did. :D (sorry folks, I couldn't resist.)

:music: San Di-e-go... Stupor Chargers! :music:

Ryan Grant's out for the year. Looks like Brandon Jackson gets a crack at the starters role.

That is a big blow to the Packers, Rogers is good but he needs a running attack.

Losing Grant is big, but not quite a season-buster. Jackson is one hell of an RB in his own right, at least as long as he refrains from putting the ball on the ground as often as he's been known to. I'm more worried about there being, well, absolutely no other halfback behind Jackson on the depth chart in case he goes down.

Well, you have a point. ^_^

Not defending Bush - he was wrong and should not only acknowledge that but apologize for it - but do we know for certain that every other Heisman winner complied with every NCAA rule? Or was his transgression just the biggest?

Well USC lost every game because Bush was decalred ineligable for 2005, so how can he keep the Heisman if he was not eligble to play.

The NCAA needs to look itself in the mirror they make millions off the players and true the player gets a free education and these days its worth a lot, but it seems they often come down too hard on the players and ignore the coaches, and I know it you know and the NCAA knows the coaches get these boosters and agents to kick some money to keep their players happy or to come to said school. Its time to go after them harder.

Exactly my thoughts. The only thing I'm worried about is how effective Jackson will be on 3rd down now that he has to play downs 1 & 2. But John Kuhn's been looking pretty good with the ball lately... maybe this could develop into a 1-2 punch similar to Ahman Green and Najeh Devenport a few years back.

Speaking of Ahman Green, he knows the Packers system and is probably just as good past his prime as any other reserve halfback the Packers could get at this point. Maybe they could send an apology letter to all 20 of the Omaha Nighthawks season ticket holders.

That's just it... Bush got caught doing something that everyone whose not a naive idiot knows every major program engages in. It seems a bit overzealous for him to lose his Heisman over that, but at least he's doing the classy thing and giving it up voluntarily so there's at least a chance that it could go to Vince Young (who should've won it in the first place IMO).

Funny you should mention that: They announced that there will be no winner of the Heisman Trophy in 2005...which means that depending on where you are or your opinion of the 2005 season, the People's Heisman Trophy Winner will be Bush or Young.

IMO, if they had given it out after the Rose Bowl, it's Young's all the way. But Bush lived up to all the hype & then some in that 2005 season, & he deserved it. Too bad he got caught up in all of that.

Many times the "free education" is a joke. I've said it before, I went to high school with a guy that is in the NBA now. He should have never graduated from high school, no way he could handle college level courses, especially given the practice schedule of the basketball team. I've heard stories from Maryland about players getting papers written for them or given passing grades for nothing. Its a joke. They really need to start giving players the option of free education or a small salary. Don't let the players who don't want to learn, take up spots in the classroom and waste the time of people that do care about the education.

How's this for irony: The Jaguars will be playing in a blacked out game...except they aren't the home team! The San Diego Chargers are.

Was the loss to the Chiefs THAT bad?! :P

When you're in a city like San Diego, a Chargers Jags game is pretty low on the list of fun things to do...
