So yeah, Sam Bradford is going to make at least $50 Million guaranteed with his new contract. Who knows how much the contract will be worth once it's finalized. All I know is this: They need to fix that. This whole thing about rookies getting paid an absurd amount of money (even for the NFL) before they've even taken one snap is getting crazy. I'm not mad at the rookies themselves getting that paper, but come on, the powers that be really need to take care of this.

Also, whatifsports.com has the Falcons going 6-10. In the words of T.I., "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That's a funny one." The Falcons went 9-7 last year after almost every major player on that team got hit with injury. They were down to the 3rd string running back & backups at many other positions and still came out with a winning record. If this team can avoid the injury bug, there's no reason to think that the Falcons can't win 10-11-12 games this season. Then again it's the NFL so who knows?

Winning the division will probably be another story...that'll depend on if the Annual NFL SURPRIZZZEEEEEEEEE!!!111!!! doesn't come in the form of the Panthers or Bucs having a great year or the Saints continuing their dominance, but I think that Atlanta will at least be in the running for it. This is honestly the first time that I've felt good about the Falcons in the long term, which is unusual because I normally go into every season with the Falcons thinking that Murphy's Law will be in full effect. :P

That being said, I'm not even gonna bother trying to predict what's gonna happen in the NFL, because of all the big pro sports in North America, this league is probably the most volatile. Teams go from a Super Bowl appearance to missing the playoffs on a regular basis. Who knows what the hell is gonna happen year in & year out?

I'm not sure you needed so many separate posts to get there, but I'm down with your conclusion!

If everything aligns the Pack should be in Dallas or Arlington or whatever come February. Aaron Rodgers still isn't getting love but that'll change this year.

As we all know, the last place team in the NFC South usually either wins it or at worst makes the playoffs the next year. Does anybody seriously see the Bucs doing that?(I remember thinking that about Atlanta in '08 saying they had no shot in hell, then they go out and win 11 games)

The Cowboys will choke.

The 'Skins won't be half-bad.

The Jets will be drama filled and in turmoil... all the while leading the AFC.

Oakland will be awful.

San Francisco emerges as an NFC player.

It's probably gonna happen. That's the one thing I love/hate about this division: If you suck one year, you aren't gonna suck for long. Either you'll have a chance to rebuild quickly, or you'll just have a freak successful season out of nowhere. The NFC South is a microcosm of the volatility of the NFL.

I just think it's hilarious that WhatIfSports has the Broncos winning ten games. Newsflash - it's not going to happen. That team will be a total disaster now since they lost Brandon Marshall to go along with losing Jay Cutler.

And the Texans at 8-8? Come on, man. This year has to be the year for them.

My predictions:

-I'm feeling more confident this year than in most that the Chargers will finally win a Super Bowl. They have a running game again, and Vincent Jackson won't be around for most of the year to kick challenge flags and act like an ass during high-stakes games. Hopefully the loss to the Jets last year taught the team that they need to be the MOST disciplined they can be instead of the LEAST.

-The Texans finally make the postseason. Yes, I know they're the trendy pick that disappoints every year, but they're at least coming off a winning record for once.

-The Patriots will finish the year with a losing record. The Mankins and Brady situations are going to be major distractions and their defense is mediocre at best.

-The Falcons come out of nowhere to win the NFC. They've got a great team this year with a ton of talent, and they're under the radar right now.

-The Lions win nine games and make the playoffs. They made gigantic strides this offseason in the draft and free agency to upgrade their offense and defense, and Matt Stafford is going to be a beast.

Standings predictions:

AFC East:

Jets (11-5)

Dolphins (10-6)

Patriots (6-10)

Bills (4-12)

AFC North:

Bengals (12-4)

Ravens (11-5)

Steelers (7-9)

Browns (5-11)

AFC South:

Texans (11-5)

Titans (10-6)

Jaguars (9-7)

Colts (9-7)

AFC West:

Chargers (14-2)

Broncos (5-11)

Raiders (3-13)

Chiefs (1-15)

NFC East:

Cowboys (8-8)

Redskins (8-8)

Giants (7-9)

Eagles (6-10)

NFC North:

Packers (12-4)

Lions (9-7)

Vikings (8-8)

Bears (7-9)

NFC South:

Falcons (13-3)

Saints (10-6)

Panthers (8-8)

Buccaneers (5-11)

And the Texans at 8-8? Come on, man. This year has to be the year for them.

Haven't people been saying that for the past five or six seasons? The Texans are the new Cardinals when it comes to "this is the year they finally break through" predictions. And just like the Cardinals, the Texans will disappoint yet again. The Texans will have their "breakout" season right about when everyone finally gives up on them. Until then, expect between five and eight wins; again.

Texans will finish with a winning record. Barring Schaub stays healthy, he's one of the better QB's in the game and Houston is by far one of the least talked about teams, always getting overshadowed by Lord Manning and in my eyes the overrated Tennessee Titans. Andre Johnson will finally get the respect he deserves this year.
