Non-whole uniform numbers

I'm surprised they even bother with numbers. Just give each player an individual sponsor to identify them while on the ice.

That's actually not a bad idea... for them to do anywhere other than North America.

Do European hockey teams sell lots of jerseys? I'd imagine not with all of that clutter.

Generally in the UK, hockey teams sell a fair amount of jerseys. But you hardly ever see anyone wear them on non game days.

For the record, I haven't ever bought my local team's jersey. Not only do the ads and generic cliparty logo put me off buying it, but they keep changing the design every year. That and they've been through three completely different colour schemes in the past five years

AND they don't know how to spell "Wayne Gretzky" correctly

You pick your player (on a first come, first served basis). That player would then be introduced as for example ?Wayne Gretsky (we wish), sponsored by Chelmsford Transport?. Your company would also be included on the weekly match-day programs sponsors page and you can have a link to your website from this page.

Every time I go to Cardiff I see tons of people wearing Devils jerseys, but that seems to be the exception to the rule. I would say that hockey jerseys seem to be the most common US sport jerseys here in the UK, though.

That is right up there with Ted Turner asking/telling Atlanta Braves pitcher Andy Messersmith, who wore #17, to have the back of his jersey say "Channel" so it read "Channel 17" to promote TBS in the 70's

Should just turn this thread in to stunt/promotional numbers. Are there any more?

Instead of "Goal scored by #55, Igor Shamski", we'll hear "That goal was sponsored by Viagra."
