 It is very possible that the last Winnipeg Jets game was a playoff loss to the Red Wings and that the last Phoenix Coyotes game could be a playoff loss to... the Red Wings!

We said this last year and they still wouldn't die. Wings are gonna have to roll out the Ultrazord on this one.

Should help the Coyotes' books that Hockey Strip Mall will once again be up to its balls in Michiganders, nasally bleating about avenging prior scheduling losses.

Hey, this happened!

Yes. This also makes Colin Campbell the Putty Patrol on the basis of spouting a bunch of crap that doesn't make any sense.

Bill Daly as Goldar.

I think Goldar got the shaft on that one.

He even kind of looks like one of them.

I was going to suggest that the NHL would be better off being run by an evil space witch and a gold plated monkey knight, but then I remembered that the NHL actually signed an ok television deal. It's really ruining my high.

Boy can you believe the Coyotes are 0-7 in the playoffs? No wonder that franchise has no fans.

Seriously when you make the playoffs 7 times in your history and fail to win ONE measly playoff round it should tell you something.

Here is their post season record.

1997-Round 1 loss to Anaheim

1998-Round 1 loss to Detroit

1999-Round 1 loss to St.Louis

2000-Round 1 loss to Colorado

2001-Missed playoffs

2002-Round 1 loss to San Jose

2003-Missed Playoffs

2004-Missed Playoffs

2005-Lockout

2006-Missed Playoffs

2007-Missed Playoffs

2008-Missed Playoffs

2009-Missed Playoffs

2010-Round 1 loss to Detroit

2011-Round 1 loss to Detroit

The Catch of the Day!

I'm no Coyotes fan, but at least they are making the playoffs at a 50% rate. I think that should earn them some respect.

Not when over half the league makes the playoffs.

But it's still a sign of at least a decent franchise that tries. Making the playoffs half the time (i.e., being an average to above-average team half the time, more or less) shows that they've fielded somewhat competitive and competent teams on a regular basis. I'll admit that I don't follow the NHL very closely, so you might know something that I don't.

Watching NHL on the Fly immediately after the loss, they cut to the interview with I believe Cleary who discussed the win as the Coyotes saluted the dozens of 'yote fans they showed weeping in the stadium. One of the guys on the broadcast tore up Phoenix fans and said something to the effect of "I don't know why Phoenix fans have any right to cry when this is the one game of the year they decided to buy tickets." Pretty harsh.
