2011NCAA Football Thread

You forgot to mention, in this very thread, calling Boise State one of the top ten NCAA football programs.

You forgot to read, in this very thread, that I said today's most relevant programs, not most relevant all-time. If I had done a list of most relevant college football programs in history, Oregon, VT, TCU, and Florida would have been left off the list as well, and Michigan would be in the top two. But you didn't complain about any of those schools being included/ranked where they are. Why bother when you can just give me :censored:?

=========================

Putting the Ohio State sweater vest in mothballs isn't going to make anyone forget Tressel's legacy of fraud. I'd be surprised if he gets another college football job for a long, long time.

The 5 to 10 year "show cause" that the NCAA slaps on Jim Tressel will definitely help in keeping him off the sidelines for awhile.

The thing is, he was under a Federal Gag Order because of the Drug Trafficking and possible Weapons Trafficking.

Wait, what? I haven't been following the situation that closely; where did this come from?

Stunning news, but it's really the only thing that makes sense. The school itself didn't have the cans to get rid of Tressel (and it may have looked like they were throwing him under the bus), so he had to bounce. One way or another, dude had to go. It's not the crime, it's the coverup.

The thing is, he was under a Federal Gag Order because of the Drug Trafficking and possible Weapons Trafficking. I can't fault him for NOT saying anything to the NCAA or The University because it would have brought far more discipline down on him, from a far higher source

The owner of the Tattoo Parlor where Pryor and the others sold their memorabilia was the one under investigation for trafficking, not Tressel

I didn't "flip my f-ing lid" Kev. I pushed your buttons just so I could watch you do what you do. What can I say? It's Sunday night and I was bored.

That is literally the definition of trolling.

At first it was about Ohio State and the problems they're having. I only started messing with him because he got all self-righteous about Arizona. He has a history of bashing Ohio State every chance he gets. But when people dare to start talking :censored: about Arizona he loses it. He shouldn't expect to be able to talk :censored: without getting some in return.

In a OH SNAP moment..

The Columbus Dispatch (and ESPN) is reporting that Jim Tressel has resigned as Ohio State coach.

Wow.

Brace yourself folks; willmorris was right about something in a college football thread.

Former Ohio State Player: I sold Big Ten Championship Rings for Money

So much more in here. I think this will be the last year of Tressell as coach of OSU

I only disagree because I think he gets fired before the season starts.

He didn't get it exactly right but he did say Tressel wouldn't start the season.

Especially since there's supposed to be this SI article coming out tomorrow that will likely be reporting further NCAA violations that will pretty much obligate the NCAA to drop a USC-sized hammer on the program (at minimum).

If I'm the Big 10, I'm already working on trying to plea against a TV ban for OSU.

This is what needed to happen. Hopefully this will send a message to big time coaches that they aren't invincible (although it probably won't).

They don't learn their lesson do they?

Learn what, exactly? The "lesson" is that they've got as good of a shot to win the SEC as they have ever had down there in Columbia. The "lesson" is Stephen Garcia will be back in time for fall practice. The "lesson" is The Ol' Ballcoach recognizes his team could be a serious BCS/MNC contenders so he's going to make sure he assists Garcia in developing the decision-making skills that are needed for managing life in general...until early January, anyway.

The lesson is that this is the 5th time he's been suspended. He isn't going to stop drinking any time soon.

This is starting to get ridiculous. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but with Tressel and (most certainly) Pryor in trouble, considering the other offenses Ohio State has committed, the death penalty might actually happen.

No. For the last time, no. This is bad and OSU will certainly receive harsh punishments, but SMU was PAYING THEIR PLAYERS! They continued to do it even after being caught by the NCAA. That is miles ahead of what OSU did.

Terrell Pryor with the new car seems fishy. With all the investigations going on, maybe they'll find out that they did.
