dfwabel
The original Tampa Bay Buccaneer pick and NFL HOFer suffered a stroke. His restaurant group tweeted a statement in which they claimed he already passed, but his family refuted that statement.
FiddySicks
I hope he's ok. I'm a huge Selmon fan and it would be a rough blow to the Bucs for him to pass. Funny, I have a Leroy Selmon jersey and haven't worn it for quite awhile, and got the urge to wear it today for some reason. What timing. TBGKon
On the radio just prior to today's Rays game the guys announced Selmon had a stroke, and nothing new was reported as of around 7pm.
raysox
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/24577/remembering-lee-roy-selmonHe died today, awe man. USF wore 63 on their helmets yesterday, and no doubt the Bucs will have something this season. @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble

TBGKon
RIP Lee Roy. You were such an asset to the Tampa sports landscape as well as assisting the University of South Florida plant their football roots firm.http://www.baynews9.com/article/news/2011/september/306373/Buc-legend-Lee-Roy-Selmon-passes-away
FiddySicks
RIP to the badass of badasses. On top of being a huge Bucs fan, I also had an uncle who was the pilot for the Sooners football team back when Selmon was going there, so there's a lot of love going around my family for Lee Roy. He will be missed indeed. RIP Lee Roy, other Bucs will join you in the Hall some day, but you'll always be number one. AndrewG70
Two thoughts:1. If there's no Lee Roy Selmon, there's no football at the University of South Florida.2. I'm going to predict the Bucs will seek special permission from the NFL to wear their throwback uniforms for all home games this season in Selmon's memory. Whether they're actually granted that permission would remain to be seen. The (unofficial) NHL Uniform DatabaseThe WHA Uniform Database

TBGKon
1. If there's no Lee Roy Selmon, there's no football at the University of South Florida. You are absolutely correct. He has been part of USF Athletics since 1993 in multiple capacities, even athletic directors from 01-04.I had the pleasure to casually meet Mr. Selmon in 2006 when my sport facilities class at my college toured the USF Athletic Facility. He came up to our group and spoke to us, asked what we all wanted to do in the future and wished us luck.
CrookedThumb
Feared on the field and loved off the field. The way a football player should be. I'm sad that I never got the chance to see him play and even sadder that I never had the chance to meet him. IMO, he's the greatest Buccaneer in history.RIP, Mr. Selmon. Tomorrow, I'll be wearing your jersey to class.
infrared41
If there's no Lee Roy Selmon, there's no football at the University of South Florida. What a fitting tribute that the Bulls went out and knocked off one of the most storied teams in sports history on the same weekend Lee Roy Selmon passed away. Talk about the perfect testament to his work. All roads lead to Dollar General.
