While we are on the subject of London, it is rumored that the Pats and Rams will play each other there next year:

On Friday, commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the London game during his press conference in Indianapolis.

"We're going to play the London games. We hope it will be with the Rams and the New England Patriots next year," he said. "That's what we planned ? but there are issues that obviously are going to have to get resolved. We know there are discussions going on. We hope they will get resolved shortly."

It's not rumored. It was announced. Complete with some ticket sales. Then the Edward Jones Dome Stadium owner decided that they would miss 45,000 people near the dome possibly spending stuff on concessions and threw a hissy fit.

I'm sure this time its age and abillity related this time.

Maybe maybe not, but he's also the oldest running back in the league.

I like Ricky Williams though, always have. His career track has never been the I grew up wanting to play football, I played football, then I quit and went on to coach football career track that you get from about 95% of the players that have ever suited up.

Ricky is different. He's always had outside interests. He's one of the the smartest athletes I've ever heard speak. He's not obsessed with the game which I like to. He's simply his own person. I don't think there's enough people like that in pro sports. Somebody with the both the natural ability to play in the NFL and mental ability to keep the game's importance in perspective.

So Knowshon Moreno gets a DUI the other day. And his tag says "SAUCED".

Not quite sure what he's thinking. He does know he's out of eligibility, right?

Just never able to stay healthy or get his feet under him. Now he's got off-field problems as well.

I'm pretty sure the Broncos were planning to move on without him anyway but now they definitely are. I think its safe to list him as a bust now as well. If you haven't shown anything yet as an NFL running back even at only 24, good bet your career is over, especially if your a high round pick like Moreno that's already been given a chance.

Look for Denver to go running back either 1st or 2nd round in this year's draft.

At least some of those who paid him millions of dollars and/or depended on him as a teammate might disagree.

Is there a more chancy position than running back to take in round 1? Looking back over the last handful of drafts:

2011

Mark Ingram - 28

2010

CJ Spiller - 9

Ryan Mathews - 12

Jahvid Best - 30

Knowshon Moreno - 12

Donald Brown - 27

Beanie Wells - 31

2009

Darren McFadden - 4

Jonathan Stewart - 13

Felix Jones - 22

Rashard Mendenhall - 23

Chris Johnson - 24

While the jury is still out on most of these players, it's safe to say it's nearly split down the middle as far as returned value for their draft position.

Also you have to factor in that there is no position in the NFL more "plug-and-play" friendly than running back. I've personally never been a fan of taking a back in the first couple rounds, simply because I feel that a running back's success hinges entirely on too many other factors. If you've got a mediocre QB and offensive line, you can have Emmitt Smith back there and he's going to have trouble getting you 70+ a game.

Word has it that the NFL's Pro Bowl might be biting the dust:

NEW YORK?Football fans "do not like the Pro Bowl" and "would rather get rid of the all-star game altogether," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters Saturday, saying the league is open to hearing exactly how much money viewers are willing to offer to make a Pro Bowl cancellation happen. "The fans have said this is becoming embarrassing for the sport, and we want them to know we're listening. So there's a seat at the bargaining table waiting for them," said Goodell, gesturing to his team of accountants and lawyers. "As the Players Association saw last year, we will consider all offers in good faith, but we're not going to just give you everything you want and leave money on the table. Name a sum, and we'll see how badly you don't want this." Sources inside the league said they were not expecting an unusually large deal with the fans, as the NFL already takes in more than 95% of Americans' discretionary income

I just don't see the point. The NHL/NBA ASG's have a lot of entertaining skills challenges and their style of game is much more open to highlight after highlight. Everybody's smiling, taking it easy, just putting on a show. That's the kind of ASG you can do well with. With football, it's not so easy. I'd simply reward the vacation to Hawaii, give players their bonuses, hold some sort of chilled out skills challenge for those who are interested, and call it a day.

Wait, so Goddell is giving the fans the option of paying the NFL to have them take something away from them? I can't be reading that right. If I am, there are an awful lot of really stupid fans out there. I mean really? That's an article from the Onion, right?

There's simply too many positives of the Pro Bowl to cancel it IMO. Boring to watch on TV or not, it's a lot of fun, still gets decent ratings, and is a terriffic stimulant to the Hawiian economy.

That excerpt is from an Onion article, yes, but the idea is legitimate.

There may be some truth to the idea that the quality of the game is effecting the NFL's decision and that would be alot easier to believe if the game wasn't getting huge ratings, but I don't buy for a second that the NFL is all of a sudden more concerned about the quality of the product on the field over making a few bucks.

I think the reason real they are considering not having the game anymore is because the Hawaii may or may not be willing anymore to pay the NFL $5 million to have the game. If they could move the game from Hawaii I think they would still have it, but I don't know if any other city wants it.

I think the idea with moving the Pro Bowl to the site of the Super Bowl was that cities were going to be more aggressive in bidding in bidding for the Super Bowl if they knew they could get the Pro Bowl as an added bonus, but found out quickly that wasn't going to be the case and the players probably didn't like it as much, so the idea didn't work.

You might see the game come back down the road, but if the Hawaii government continues to play hardball with the NFL, I think the game will be done for the time being.

Former Chicago Bear and (I believe) current San Diego Charger Tommie Harris tragically lost his 29-year old wife Ashley today after she suffered a stroke.

Sad, sad :censored: .
