The day Wirtz died was one of the greatest days in recent Chicago sports history. I don't think people quite realized just how badly he ran the blackhawks into the ground. It wasn't that the blackhawks fans abandoned the team - it was that the team abandoned the fans, or more accurately Wirtz abandoned them.

The very hour after he died that September morning, it was a bizarre celebration across Chicago. Tasteless? Slightly. If you put your ear to the wall you could hear the audible sounds of handshakes, hugs, and high fives. You saw Blackhawks banners and flags being hung on doors and out windows; doors and windows that hadn't featured Blackhawks paraphernalia in about 15 years. There was just an audible buzz of hope, a long-anticipated event had come to pass that opened the door to a true revival for the blackhawks.

You could have condensed that into "They booed his moment of silence at the Hawks' season opener." :P

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

You know, there have been intelligent, articulate Bruins fans calling in to Vancouver radio stations today to talk about things. It's a shame you guys are such an embarrassment to the rest of the Bruins fan base. If the Canucks played exactly like the Bruins, you'd be running at the mouth about how dirty and thuggish they are. I think a hockey fan with some perspective would be able to see that there are players that cross the line on both sides. Lucic and Marchand aren't exactly the king's of gentelemanly conduct on the ice.

Weise isn't going to fight Thornton, no one on the Canucks is likely to, because they don't have a fighter of the size and strength of Thornton. Therefore it would be incredibly stupid for any of them get in a fight with him. There's also nothing to gain for Weise in that situation for fighting Thornton, there's no advantage to his team if he gets in a fight he's likely to lose. Also, getting suckered into a penalty by a rookie is something I would have expected someone with Thornton's experience to be able to avoid.

The point is to win the game. The Canucks managed to win this one, but it doesn't really matter since they let the important ones get away in June. I just wish maybe they'd had the guts to start Schneider (and played Hodgson) in Boston in one of the finals games to see what might have happened.

The continued mocking of the Sedins as "girls" is so pathetic. If they fought, they'd be accused of losing their cool and letting people get under their skins (this is what they were criticized for in the playoff losses to Chicago, and when they don't fight, but absorb the cheap shots of other players, they're somehow labelled as not being "tough". Remarkable how such weak, wimpy, players are back to back scoring champions of the league.

That sound you hear is Penguins fans everywhere breathing a collective sigh of relief in regard to James Neal and Craig Adams.

Then proceeding to panic again when they think of Staal, Letang, Asham, and Crosby.

Yet the Bruins didn't have 6 men on the ice and at least one on the bench, pounding one player.

And for that they were rewarded with a 5 on 3 power play and the wrongful ejection of a key opposing player.

And since when is a hip check (no it was not a clip, it was interference)a five game suspension?

And weak is the perfect word when you have to hide your #1 goalie in a touque behind the bench.

No wonder why he lost a game 7 Cup Final at home.....he can't handle a regular season game with a little build up.

As much as I love Lou, I still would rather have Schneider as our main guy and have Luongo traded for a consistent scorer and big Dustin Byfuglien type guy who can actually fight and get under the skin of the other team.

The concussion that followed and perhaps it was a little payback for not suspending Boychuk for almost ending Mason Raymond's career in June. Although as much as I'm glad that rat Marchand got suspended, I think it was a little much, 3 games is what I would have given him.

Halak made his grand return to Montreal tonight. Obviously he got an ovation when they introduced him in the starting line-up. But from what I've heard, the reaction starting to get a little bit more mixed soon afterwards.

Right now, it's 0-0 after 1. Hope they put one in during the second.

Why does a Canucks fan care about the Islanders beating Detroit?

Ummm...how? Cory's played better against the Bruins, so they put him in.

Toews takes a deflection off the side of the head then skates headfirst into the post of the goal. Looks painful. He's in the locker room.

edit: he's back on the bench. Nice.
