Looks like the Giants started a new trend with the gold. Not silly outlines. FULL ON BLING!!! :P

Only because they already use gold outline on their regular uniforms. They pretty much had to go this route for it to be noticeable.

someone had the suggestion a few years ago that the Phillies should have used gold stars instead of an outline. I think that would have been a fantastic idea.

I am all in favor of the Gold Outline, simply because it keeps the team identity and colors intact, while still highlighting them. Of course that wouldn't be feasible with all teams, especially those with colors in close proximity to the gold (i.e. Orange, Athletic Gold, etc.)

The cardinals missed an opportunity with the great looking contrast with Red and Gold. Of course it's going to be along the same lines as the Red Sox in 08', but if it's not broken, don't fix it, and keep the trend going.

...or they could've just chosen not to do it.

Red Sox used the gold outline in '05, not '08.

The on-field/authentic jerseys don't look so bad actually. I still think the numbers are silly, but the jersey looks pretty good. I forget what it's called, but the Cardinals don't just use the regular flat material for their logo embroidering. It's a raised twill or something or other. And that texture seems to darken the gold and it looks pretty decent.

Still only like it for a one game or series thing, though.

Chain stitching.

It's not as bad as I thought. Still odd though.

I don't really get the hate for these. They don't look completely awesome, but it's only for one game and it is an honor, after all.

I was actually wondering if they were going to wear them for the whole series, but just assumed it was just for the ring ceremony game, like the Giants did last year.

BTW, the Cards did get their rings today, right? I can't wait to see them.

No, the rings are Saturday. Today was the banners. I think they split it up to have more promo items for more fans. Also, their opening day ceremony was 45 minutes without the rings (HOFers, players on trucks, 4 commissioner trophies on display, banners, etc.).

And I hope that world series champions patch comes off at some point (I'd say May 1st). It will look lame if we're 10 games under .500 in July with that patch still on the sleeve (obviously hoping that doesn't happen!).

Nope. That patch will be on the sleeve the whole season.

They get their rings tomorrow. They wear the uniforms again tomorrow, but I don't think they're wearing them on Sunday.
