ltjets21
For some reason when the vikings first got field turf, I remember there 50 yard line logo being an MV and sometimes a V. Am I Crazy?
-kj
For the early parts of the season, they kept the markings relatively simple, since they were sharing the Metrodome with the Twins. nuordr
No you are not crazy, in fact they used this logo at midfield and I thought it looked horrible!
BBTV
Most of the teams that shared multi-purpose stadiums with baseball teams would go with simple designs until the baseball season was over.I'm not sure why the Eagles used to do this (plain white serif letters, no logo) because baseball season was always over for the Phillies by the all-star break. OnWis97
For many years (though this would include the astroturf era), they waited to mark midfield until the U of M football season was over. They and the Gophers always had their own end zone designs, but the 50 was blank until mid-November. (Lettering only)That still looks better than Pittsburgh. They should just put Pittsburgh in both end zones and repaint after each game. The Pittsburgh in one end zone and slashes in the other is just silly.

TimEOBrien
Hell no! 'Sburgh looks great with the weird asymmetric endzone designs. Matches the horseshoe feel of the stadium.

patsox
This isn't exactly the same thing, but I'm glad the Patriots kept the field markings rather light last night so as not to mess up the field for the Revolution. I mean, it's not like it won't be completely ruined by the time the season starts, but at least they put it off a little bit.

Most teams use either nothing, or just "outlines" of the lettering to allow for easier transition...
