Barnitosupreme9
I just realized I don't have a favorite EPL team, even though I watch a good amount of football. How do I decide what team to root for when I live in the US? (side note: I've ruled out rooting for any of the big 4 teams)
Gothamite
Go for Arsenal - we won't be "big 4" for long. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Kramerica Industries
You don't necessarily need a favorite. I don't have a favorite NBA team, and I really don't have a favorite soccer team from any of the major European leagues (at least, not yet). I still am pleased with what I see most of the time. Nyk33
Go for Arsenal - we won't be "big 4" for long. Under that logic he could root for any team outside of Manchester since no one else is winning the league for a while.

JayMac
I root for Chelsea. They have enough recent success to make them history but they do not have any real history. And the way they have been going, they could be outside of the big 4 soon. I have always kinda liked Everyone and Newcastle too.

FiddySicks
I root for Chelsea and have for a few years now. The biggest reason is because they're the only EPL team I've ever seen play live. Barnitosupreme9
I've decided on a team: Everton. My 2 favorite US players are Tim Howard and Landon Donavan and Howard has been Everton's goalie for a long time and Donavan has been on loan to them a couple of times. Gonna read up on their history. crashcarson15
As a general rule of thumb, you can't just pick a club from a hat and really truly support them. Granted, Villa were the first club in England that I "supported" but outside of the Premier League, most of my fandoms have evolved. In Germany, I started out following Bayern Munich... then I decided I didn't want to do that and followed (in some order) 1860 Munich, Leverkusen, Dortmund, and 'Gladbach. And when it was all set and done, through watching matches, learning about the history of clubs, learning about the cities in which they're from, and visiting Berlin, I'm most certainly a Hertha supporter. And the funny thing? I disliked Hertha at the very beginning. Funny how that all works out.For me and Villa, it became love at first sight really. The claret and blue kits to me were beautiful, I already had a link to the club through Randy Lerner's ownership, they're a club that would fit decently well in Cleveland and when Darren Bent scored to beat Manchester City a couple of years back, that's when I knew.So I guess what I'm saying is to not rush in to "choosing" a team and buying merchandise and stuff -- it's definitely something that takes time and a bit of research. And it should probably revolve around more than simply one player -- had I done that, I would've been a Fulham fan. And then what would've happened when Deuce left? DC in Da House w/o a Doubt
I'd say Tottenham as well. They have Clint Dempsey, so that can't hurt.
maz
I have been wondering which EPL team to favor myself. I usually just follow a "anyone but ManU" rule. I tend favor teams with big American players like Everton and Tottenham, and I've always liked Arsenal despite their big four status.
