spartacat_12
That has just become the most masturbated-to video in Ontario. Not all of Ontario. As far as the fight goes, it's pretty ridiculous for something like this to happen in the pre-season. All of the main people involved (Rolston, Scott, Kessel, Clarkson) did something stupid and it lead to unnecessary fights, suspensions, and probably a concussion or two. While Scott has absolutely no business going after a guy like Kessel, one of the first things you're taught in initiation hockey is that your stick is not a weapon. I'll buy that the first slash was out of self-defense but you can't just skate up to a scrum and start two-handing people. Kassian gets 5 games for being reckless with his stick and accidentally injuring someone, we'll see how the league reacts to a player clearly trying to injure someone with his stick, even though it didn't get as ugly as it could have. If Kessel doesn't get a suspension the NHL will be setting a pretty poor precedent.
Lee.
Kessel and the Leafs can sit there and claim "self defense, I was scared" all they want, but stick swinging like that is a deliberate attempt to injure. The first one, okay, give him a game or two, but to circle back around and swing at him from behind like that? Bull :censored:.But knowing how Shanaban likes to do things, it'll be "deliberate attempt to injure, but he had control of his stick and I don't like John Scott, so we're handing down a sentence of 'boys will be boys'." youcan'tseeme
The whole situation would've been avoided if players took their blinders off and realized a Sabres player picked a fight with a much larger and tougher player and unfortunately landed on his head when he fell to the ice, rendering him more injured than he was from the fight itself. He's a big boy, he knew what he was doing and the result was one that happens when you take on a larger, opponent tied in with hitting the ice. He's not a "helpess woman who needs her honour defended by John Scott". If Kessel runs Miller by all means go after him, but to go after him because someone wanted to "fight a big boy" and ended up on the ground is ridiculous! To top it all off when asked about it Rolston has the audacity to say "well what was the weight class in the one before?" He's like Lindy Ruff all over, watch a replay before you comment on something, you were wrong about what happened. Kessel broke the code with his stick but Scott and Rolston are the reason for all of it. At the end of the day though I'd take a suspended Phil Kessel over one that's gone toe to toe with John Scott, because that wouldn't have been pretty. BigEd76
Kessel gets 3 preseason games and Clarkson is appealing his suspension, so both will play in the opener against the Flyers. Bull**** UPDATE: Clarkson won't appeal and he'll sit out the first

Bull****I'm not sure how he can appeal it unless they try to argue the classic " I was taking Phil off the ice when we saw who was on " card. Regardless I can't see that working. As for Kessel I thin that's a fair punishment, there are viscious two handers all the time that go unpunished.

Jordin Tootoo plowed into Miller in one of his first games back after the Lucic hit and the team had a "normal" reaction, not a massive line brawl. This was its own thing. The Sabres just have not been a tough or gritty team since at least before the 04-05 lockout.

If Scott found the biggest Leaf dressed that night,(he still would've been larger than them) and tossed him around that would send more of a message than anything else. All that comes of this altercation is things we already knew, Rolston is an idiot, Phil Kessel is afraid of John Scott, and Clarkson is the new Tucker (god help us). If you told me the setup, I honestly would've expected Scott to get jumped by like 3 guys and the other Sabres to either do nothing or grab a Leaf's jersey in that "look like we're kinda fighting" way. It was Ryan Miller's first fight of his career. And to be fair, Scott did warn Kessel.
