dfwabel
If you want a perspective which is not that of Kiper/McShay (ESPN) or Brooks/Jerimiah (NFLN), look at Bob McGinn's Draft Series for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel*.*- Due to the paper's paywall, you have a limited number of times to access pages per month for free, but there are a couple of team message boards who have people just copy/paste the stories each day. Soarindude
Or it could just be that the Chiefs know what the Niners knew, that Alex Smith really isn't that good.I would prefer Alex Smith way over any of these guys excluding Manziel, and even that isn't exactly true since Manziels style of play wouldn't fit at all with KC.Drafting a QB in the early rounds is a terrible idea for this team. The minute Smith has one or two bad games, the coaching staff will jump on a decision to change. it'll be similar to the Bucs situation and Glennon. And I'll tell you one thing, I would kill to have Freeman back in a Bucs uniform minus all the drama that unfolded last year.
FiddySicks
Yeah, I don't know what to think about the whole Josh Freeman thing. I'd probably say no to that one. At times he looked downright brilliant, but the other side of him was probably the worst quarterback in the league. And then there are those flashbacks to that Monday night game vs New York right after he joined the Vikings where he basically missed more passes than Brett Favre even attempted in his whole time as a Viking. I'm still not sure if that was an absolute setup, or more of a true representation of what Freeman really is. Kramerica Industries
Well, sign a QB off the waiver wire and play him, like, two weeks after signing him and see what happens. There's a playbook, routes, receivers, blocking assignments, and a whole bunch of other stuff to be learned, and two weeks is nowhere near enough time to do that. Soarindude
I put 0% blame on Freeman for that performance. 0%. I watched most of the Broncos game from two seasons ago a couple weeks ago and was downright shocked at how well Freeman played, along with that year in general. He threw a lot of interceptions, but in no way was he the worst QB. Schiano ruined Freeman's career that could've been very promising. Almost to the point where I "hope" (I use that as loosely as possible) Eli gets injured next year and Freeman comes in and shows the world how good of a QB he really is, and how bad of a decision the Bucs made when giving up on this guy. Especially when it got leaked that he was taking ADHD medicine. It's downright embarrassing that A. an organization leaks that information and B. that a person with ADHD would be criticized for that.He could've been a Super Bowl winning QB, Glennon will never be, nor will McCown. tBBP
I want the name and number of your supplier...because I need some of whatever you sniffing on pronto.Super-bowl-winning QB? Please. And in all actuality it was Mark Dominik and Rheem Morris who started Freeman's ball rolling down Dale Mabry and on up I-275 out of Tampa. How? Because all that time, Tampa never thought to sign a proven veteran backup to help mentor/teach/coach Freeman along the way, show him the right way to be a pro. Yes, dude had talent...but it was also plainly apparent he had discipline issues as well, more so off the field than on, and that's where a veteran backup would have helped him out. Had Freeman had even the slightest bit of worry in his mind that one bad performance would cause him to lose his starter role, I can almost guarantee he would've straightened up--but Tampa never did bring in a veteran QB, and apparently Free's "childish antics" didn't take long to wear thin on Drill Sergeant Schiano...who for all I know was only too happy to sabotage the kid's tenure and run him out of Hillsborough County. And actually..Tampa never really has ever had a QB-cultivating environment down there--that was one of the main knocks on Tony Dungy down there (look how many QB coaches and offensive coordinators the man went through down there). Jon Gruden was supposed to rectify that issue--but all he did was FURTHER destroy it due to his masturbatory love of stockpiling QBs and veterans...and completely ruined who I believe was that team's best shot at a franchise during Gruden's time down there: Chris Simms. Dude had the genes, the moxie, the guts (I still remember that playoff game against Washington in '05 [i think it was] where he straight up dared Washington's DBs to hit him in the open field...that might have also been the same game in which he ruptured his spleen and yet still finished the game.)And now look who's helming the Buccaneers...Lovie Smith, the same guy who soldiered on for game after game after game "with Rex as his quarterback". Yeah he got Glennon and McCown now, but I don't see either of them really panning out long-term. (Of course, the Buccaneers were once also only one bad call from making the Super Bowl with a rookie starting QB fifteen seasons ago, so....) *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
Sport
A friend of mine is a Browns fan. Actually, to say he's a Browns fan doesn't do him justice. He's a Browns delusionist. I've had arguments with him every offseason for the last ten years about why he thinks the Browns will win the division. Every November he's dumbfounded as to why things always go against him. Anyways, he's wanted Johnny Manziel on the Browns since the middle of last season. The ONLY thing I care about in this draft is that Johnny Manziel is not drafted by the Browns. Billy B
I hope the "Cowboys will do anything to draft Manziel" story ends up being true. What better place for the biggest/most controversial star in the draft to go than the Cowboys? He'll either end up being the hero that brings the Cowboys back to greatness or a hilarious flop that makes Jerry Jones look like an idiot, and I'd be happy to see either of those things play out.
