It's called need. Tampa doesn't need defense, as their D is fairly solid, and the holes they do have can be filled later on in the draft. What they do (desperately) need is receivers (as, you know, they kinda dealt their #2 receiver to the Bills for an extra goalpost). They're also short on offensive lineman, and (later in the draft) could kinda use a quarterback they can develop past this season.

Tampa would be stupid to go defense with that first pick.

So, yeah, they'll probably go defense with that first pick.

Word on the street is that the Browns may have offered or at least discussed the #4 pick to the Eagles for Nick Foles and possibly a later pick.

I think Chip Kelly loves Manziel, and doesn't love Foles. I would not be totally shocked if they did trade Foles, though only if they were certain they'd get Manziel (or another qb he likes better) - so not until draft day right before they'd pick.

That would be one of the biggest uniform downgrades in history if he went to the Bucs and had to wear their disgrace of a jersey.

I don't think Manziel is going to fall quite that far (Houston, Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Oakland all need quarterbacks, too. And there are plenty of teams that have the picks available to trade ahead of Tampa), and I'd still be a bit apprehensive if that were to happen, but it sure would be nice to see Tampa get a "big name" quarterback for once. That hasn't happened since they drafted Vinny Testaverde, and that wasn't exactly a success.

Steve Mariucci says in this interview about Manziel that "He's smart, he's tough, he's a playmaker, and he's a winner!". That's all well and good, but there was another quarterback drafted several years ago that a bunch of talking heads said the same things about, and his latest offer came from the LA Kiss.

Ahh. I'm excited about the prospect of getting a player with that kinda star power, but I'm just too pessamistic to see that actually happening. Tampa will probably draft a guard or something.

I hope the "Cowboys will do anything to draft Manziel" story ends up being true. What better place for the biggest/most controversial star in the draft to go than the Cowboys? He'll either end up being the hero that brings the Cowboys back to greatness or a hilarious flop that makes Jerry Jones look like an idiot, and I'd be happy to see either of those things play out.

From allowing Jimmy Johnson to resign after winning the Super Bowl, to internal bickering with Switzer, Parcells and Wade Phillips, and to pretty much everything involving Tony Romo, don't we all already know that Jerry Jones is a free-wheeling, liberally-spending idiot?

Cowboys draft needs: defense, defense with some more defense sprinkled with defense while topping it off with defense. And then, maybe a guard or two.

Agree. DEFENSE. I think they should draft LB Anthony Barr from UCLA with the 16th pick.

I'd love that. Barr is fantastic. I'm a big UCLA fan so I've been able to enjoy his whole career

This. The defense has been the source of many a headache for me in recent years. These Manziel rumors better be just that, rumors. Ol' Jerry is crazy but I don't think he is that crazy.

Barr would be a nice pick up. I'd go a step further and suggest they trade that pick for more picks in the earlier rounds. I might have read it wrong, but after that 1st pick they don't have anything until the 6th or 7th round. They need players and to get them they need picks.

Barr may end up in Minnesota at 8.

What a funny year. 6 weeks ago, the Vikes, at 8 were going to be too late for Manziel, Bortles, and Bridgewater. Now it looks like all (or at least 2) might be available and they won't be taking one anyway.

Kiper and WalterFootball both predicted Manziel to go to the Bucs in their final mock draft. For some odd reason, those Bucs uniforms would look a hell of a lot better with Manziel.

They will good good as he throws picks, and gets laid the :censored: out on a regular basis by nfl talent
