Trade idea...

Warriors- K Love, G Henderson

Wolves- K Thompson, D Lee, M Sleights, 1st via GS, 1st via CHA, 2nd via CHA

Hornets- K Martin

Minnesota & Golden State both move/add equal salaries. Charlotte adds only $800k in salary.

Minnesota gets the ransom they want; Klay Thompson & a pile of picks.

Golden State gets what they want; Kevin Love. They didn't want to give up Thompson but they get back Henderson. While not a scorer, Henderson is a great defender & can fill the void at SG. They only have to give up one 1st rd pick.

Charlotte gets what they want. They move Henderson & add a shooter. They swap Henderson for Martin, a proven scorer who has deep range & can average 20ppg efficiently. They only have to give up one 1st (likely around #20) & 2nd rd pick to make the upgrade.

Everybody wins.

You cannot be serious. The only "void" Henderson can fill is the backup spot.

Nobody wants Kevin Martin, therefore everyone cannot win. Plus, tap the breaks on calling Gerald Henderson "great" at anything.

Henderson is one of the best defensive wings in the league.

Yet he did not even receive ONE vote for All-Defensive Team.

WEST

1. Golden State

Man, I'm a fan of the Dubs but the 1 seed is pretty generous. Even if they somehow get Love without giving up Thompson, they'd need to have perfect health (not a strong suit the past couple years) to finish ahead of the Spurs and Thunder. As currently built 4-6 seed is their likely range

I picked them to do so last year too and they went on some crazy runs that could've gotten them there but they fizzled out. I also picked them to go to the championship but I think they were just too young (and still may be). I'm just thinking Curry will be better, the rest of the core is rising and they're a deep team. They also play in a fairly weak pacific division which would allow them to rack up some wins against SAC, PHX and LAL. All the other heavy hitters in the West haven't improved themselves much if any.

What's your point?

James Harden is the worst defensive player in the NBA and he received a vote for the All-Defensive Team.

Using the opinions of writers to judge players isn't very smart.

Dwyane Wade signed a two-year deal today. Supposed to be for $16M next year, down from the 20 he opted out of. Wade has never been the highest paid player on his team. Eddie Jones, Shaq, Shawn Marion, Jermaine O'Neal, LeBron, and now Bosh all made more than him.

Your constant use of the term, "great" is the more excessive exaggeration.

Last year Mike Miller feigned back injury when he heard Cavs might claim him off waivers. Today he signs with them despite larger offers.

Guess LeBron makes a difference.

You missed the part where Golden State signed Livingston, didn't you.

Adam Silver is having a press conference right now. On the day that we found out that jerseys will have a soccer-like championship stripe on jerseys, he mentioned that there very few things to win in the NBA, unlike the tournaments within European soccer leagues. He mentioned that the competition committee has had preliminary discussions about a mid-season tournament. The motivation was said to be "to add excitement."

There weren't any follow up questions on that, but that sounds very strange. I wonder what the winner could win.

Simmons has been on the idea of a tournament of some sort for nearly a decade. One idea was to lock the top six playoff seeds and the rest of the conference plays for seeds 7 & 8 (he later changed it to just the 8th seed. He also floated out a single elimination tournament as opposed to All Star Weekend or a single elimination tournament for non-playoff teams.

I don't follow soccer, so I don't get it. Teams just enter tournaments? There's no regular season otherwise?

He also mentioned they discussed the lottery system, division and conference alignment, as well as playoff format. Those things need improvement. There's already a midseason event, and there's nothing horrible about the All Star Weekend. I'd rather see the players just get a week off than add a bunch of meaningless events. I've really liked Silver so far, so I'll just hope he knows what he's doing.

Didn't he also have the brilliant idea for the non playoff teams to play for their draft picks, and in turn would discourage tanking?

That's.... Not a bad idea...

But....

Say there is a one in a generation talent coming out (LeBron/Durant/etc...

What's to stop a team that could/should be a 6-8 seed from tanking the season, then wiping the floor with the lotto teams in a draft tourney.
