You guys are nuts. Those Avs jerseys suck, clearly, but there's no way they are the worst Edge jerseys so far. Are people forgetting about Nashville's away jerseys?

not many people want to remember the Nashville jerseys

I do...i love them, and I'm not alone in saying that.

I like the Avs jersey...used their colors well.

From what i believe, all shorts are to be RBK too correct? I think that is Svatos (not sure) and he is wearing bauer shorts so that isn't likely to be their shorts, although their RBK shorts could be plain black i suppose. Also, the avs website still doesn't have anything.

It's J.M. Liles

This makes me think that perhaps the Flyers will be one of the only teams to have their "own" template (at least in the NHL - we know that an AHL team is using it.) CBJ also has their "own", right? I don't recall seeing another one like theirs.

Minnesota has the same template as Columbus, they just added stripes at the bottom...

Maybe teams had lots of input, but if you take a closer look, the avs template wouldn't have worked with RBK's choice of available template, every team that kept their previous look could do it because they had basic pattern that worked well with RBK choice of template, just minimal changes were made.

A mountain template would have been impossible to do, that's why they changed radically, they just couldn't keep it.

Once again, RBK deserves only part of the blame.

The teams must take the lion's share of the "credit" for these messes - it has been amply demonstrated that teams who chose to respect their uniform tradition could do so, and did.

Exactly. This jersey is evidence of nothing but laziness. Take a good look at it, and you have to wonder if the approval process for the changes involved little more than an RBK rep describing all the revolutionary elements of the new Edge template over the phone, and an Avs exec on the other end of the line saying "Okay, sure, fine, whatever." I think most team executives are convinced that the new product, no matter how unattractive or unoriginal it is, will sell like hotcakes simply because of its newness (and I'm sure the Buffaslug did plenty to reinforce that notion last year.) It's up to the fanbase to prove them wrong, and sadly, I think there's far too many sheep out there, willing to blindly hand over their cash for whatever's new, for that to happen.

according to the RBK dude, the Avs had the option of keeping the exact same design but choose not to.

WOW, good call there...

Really? I missed that. Where did he say that?

some reporter asked him about no hemline horizontal stripes, and the RBK rep said that they could have chosen to gone with that design if they wanted to, but decided to change it.

Well I'm glad I still have my 6 "Vintage" Avalanche jerseys to wear!

I was only going to get 2 Edge jerseys, Colorado and Toronto. I mostlikely wont get Colorado now. Maybe Boston will take their place.

Please do suck new Leafs jersey!!!!

It's like you spoke to me.

At least I've got my 3 "vintage" avs jerseys.

Toronto is next, and being from the area you can't help but have a soft spot for the team. I hope they look much better than my poor Avalanche got.

do you have the avs first alternate sweater? the one where the middle is black?

They wore a black alternate?

Thats news to me.

I have:

White Bourque w/2001 SCF Patch

White Roy

White Roy w/nhl2000 patch

White Forsberg w/2001 SCF patch

Dark Forsberg /1996 SCF patch

Alt Tanguay with 10th anniversary patch

Was the black alt a "fan" or "fashion" jersey like the black red wings jersey?

Dan

I think it was. I seem to recall the white jersey with the white part being black.

I have a light blue one that they called "ice" which was also just a fashion jersey.

They wore it during the 1995-96 season. I have one but cannot take any photos of it since it is at home in NY and not here in VA with me.

Which backs up what I said a while back that, per my conversation with Preds owner (for now) Craig Leipold, they had VERY Little input.

Not quite. I'm saying the team consciously made the decision to have very little input. Teams that just wanted whatever the template gave them, well, that's what they got. Other franchises, who had a distinct idea of what their uniforms should look like, and how they wanted their brand presented on-ice and on the rack at stores, worked at it, and made RBK desgin their jerseys the way they truly wanted them. Look at Boston, Columbus, Vancouver, Detroit, Montreal, Carolina, Chicago in the AHL - every one of these designs violates the alleged constraints of the Edge template, and makes the likes of Nashville, Florida, and Colorado look that much sillier for just going along.

The blame for the Predators' new uniforms rests squarely on the Predators' organization, because they couldn't be bothered to care.

I went to NHLUniforms.com as well just to verify that, and yes, no black.

Interesting to go through them and see the subtle differences over the years.
