  1. I actually think the added white outline to the wordmark makes it even more difficult to read. I’d try out @Shumway’s suggestion if either thinning the outline or going with a brighter shade of purple for the letters.
  2. Good to hear! I'm back today with the Mariners! Notes: - Seattle's recently-unveiled City Connect set has been somewhat divisive. While most seem to approve of the cap and Pilots-inspired jerseys, the black pants have been met with, shall we say, less enthusiasm. Personally, I've enjoyed Nike's attempts to normalize dark colored pants in baseball; case in point, I'm a big fan of the White Sox, Astros, Rockies and Rangers designs. But here, they just don't work. That being the case, I've gone with traditional white pants this time around. - Nike's purported "nods" to the Seattle Rainiers and Steelheads didn't even register with me; I doubt any uniform buff is going to look at black pants on a Mariners uni and think, "Now that screams Steelheads." Therefore, my biggest goal in tweaking Seattle's set was to more clearly reference the aforementioned teams, which I tried to do with the addition of thick T-bars (Steelheads) and red sock stripes (Rainiers). - Red replaces black across the board, serving both as a reference to the Pilots' wheel logo and to distinguish the M's a bit from a certain other blue and gold team. - In general, I'm not a fan of beveling on baseball uniforms, so I removed it altogether from the wordmarks and numbers. - As suggested by @Frylock in the MLB 2023 thread, the crossed tridents logo moves to the cap bill, evoking the "scrambled eggs" caps of the Pilots. - I recolored the "PNW" sleeve patch to eliminated black and incorporate red as well as a touch of sky blue. - Newly-added front numbers help complete the look. I also mocked up a version with blue pants for those interested: C&C appreciated! I plan to work up a redesigned Mariners set based on the team's City Connect look, which I should have up soon.
  3. The Cubs turned out nicely! I really like that off-white alt; I've never seen the Cubs "Cuba" script used on a cream-colored design before, but it looks surprisingly great. In real life I'd prefer to see the Cubs' blue alt tweaked to better resemble their '80s road jerseys; I've been working on an upcoming series where I do just that. But this is your project so do whatever you feel is best!
  4. One solution for the lack of teal on the navy alt would be to add a third teal stripe to the sleeves and collar. Might not be a bad idea to add a third stripe to the other three jerseys, as well.
  5. Nice work! I’m not really feeling the rounded numbers for Oakland, but everything else is solid. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the Vegas relocation!
  6. The decision to go with black "slacks" for this set is made even weirder by the fact that the most recent team to unveil their City Connects less than two weeks ago also had black pants. Also, for claiming to honor "100 years of baseball in Seattle," the references to the Rainiers and Steelheads are dubious at best.
  7. Agreed! Thank you! I might as well rename this thread "Bringing MLB's Redesigns into the Modern Day." I might end up tackling those mid-late '90s Brewers at some point. Thanks! Yeah, the Disney-era Angels unis are very much a product of their time, but there's a lot about them I actually like. Curious if you have any suggestions for how to handle the Rockies?
  8. Louisiana - That cap is a thing of beauty! The fleur-de-lis are the cherry on top. I'd kind of like to see TV numbers in the same split style as the script. Arkansas - Great cap logo! Clarendon numbers work really well here, and the diamond around them is a nice touch. Maryland - Love the gothic lettering and the contrasting sleeves. I'm wondering if a white front paneled cap would help balance things a bit since there's so much white on the jersey but none on the cap. Also, thanks for adding the map in your latest post. It's nice being able to see which teams you've completed and which we still have to look forward to (and forces me to remember my U.S. geography).
  9. I agree with @johne9109; I think it would be bold of you to go all-in on the green and go red and green across the board. Also, how about using these classic stirrups?
  10. I really like the way “San Antonio Monarchs” sounds. “Armadillos” makes sense but the full name would probably be too much of a mouthful.
  11. @Carolingian Steamroller’s White Sox design from our MLB City Edition series a few years ago predicted the South Siders would go monochrome black with inverted pinstripes for their City Connect uniforms:
  12. Good to hear! Up next are the Anaheim Angels: ANGELS HOME: ANGELS ROAD: ANGELS HOME ALT: ANGELS ROAD ALT: Notes: - OK, so this one diverts from the premise of the series a bit, but I wanted an excuse to try my hand at "fixing" the Disney-era Angels, and the team's 1997 rebrand was so dramatic that it may as well have been for an expansion team. - Like many uniforms from this period, the Angels' look had plenty of worthwhile ingredients but was ultimately less than the sum of its parts. I've always loved the winged "A" logo, as well as that vibrant shade of red and periwinkle, but the pinstripes, vests and use of metallic gold terribly dates those designs. (I've often said the Angels' road set from this era might be the single most '90s baseball uniform of all time.) - My goal here was to amplify those beautiful shades of red and periwinkle and minimize but not entirely get rid of navy, given the team's precedent for wearing it. The Halos would therefore be a mainly red and periwinkle team at home, saving their navy-dominant look for away games. - I didn't want to ditch the pinstripes entirely, so I added subtle pins to the road uniforms, inspired by the Twins' new away set. I also added a headspoon for good measure. - For the alts, I moved the TV numbers from the sleeves to the front for consistency with the primary jerseys. - Props to @Victormrey for suggesting I use Anaheim's primary logo for the home and road alt's sleeve patch, replacing the original alternate logo which I never felt fit the rest of the branding, especially given its use of metallic gold and total lack of red. C&C appreciated!
  13. I'd go with the second option. I've always loved the contrasting tomahawk and those striped socks!
  14. For the Braves, I would simplify things by making the primary home uniform off-white (I tend to prefer off-white for the Braves to clean white, but that's just me). That way you don't need two throwbacks.
  15. LOVE IT! Great wordmarks, logos and use of color. I’d never heard the term “pronghorns” before now but it has a cool, old timey baseball sound to it. The only thing I’m not big on is the state outline cap. I think from a distance it would just look like a red blob. Can’t wait to see what other teams you have in store!
  16. Good start to the series! While I’ve never been a huge fan of this color scheme for Arizona, I think you made it work as best as possible. Personally, I’d flip the home and road alts; lighter colored alts tend to be worn at home, with darker ones worn on the road. For the white alternate, any thought to stacking the “Diamondbacks” wordmark similar to the 2007-11 primary logo?
  17. Glad to see this series back! I love all three of these, but my favorite has to be Virginia. The heart within the "V" is super clever and the whole design feels very Major League-caliber.
  18. I tend to think the Rockies should "own" purple the way the Padres own brown or the A's own green and gold. After all, they beat Arizona to it by five years and the color is more germane to their identity (purple mountain majesty). I think magenta works just as well for Arizona to convey a Southwestern feel, especially by evoking desert skies at sunset. What are you thinking for a Rockies tweak? One idea I had was to go straight purple, dropping the black entirely, or pairing purple with green, a la the team's City Connect look. How's this? RAYS ROAD: MARLINS HOME ALT: D-BACKS HOME: D-BACKS ROAD ALT:
  19. I'm so incredibly sorry. I don't know what to say. I pray you and your daughter can cherish your time together with your wife.
  20. The Bond set turned out great! Very clean and classy-looking. Thanks for tackling my request!
  21. The all-caps version of the wordmark is a definite improvement. I'd like to see the all-caps applied to the road wordmark, as well. I also LOVE the crossed pickaxe and bat logo. Nice work! My only big critique of the set as whole is that the primary shade of purple looks a little too washed out for my tastes. I would try out a richer shade, closer to what the team uses in real life.
