  1. It would be like if the Patriots wore a navy helmet and looked like the Texans, or Bills wore a blue helmet and looked like the Giants. Just because you can because it's a main color, doesn't mean you should
  2. They've also only had a black helmet since day one. And the Vikings have had a purple jersey and purple helmet since day one in 1960. Obviously a team can't own a color but it's ridiculous to think that if the Vikings made a black helmet or Ravens made a purple one that it wouldn't look like they're copying each other when they have such a similar color scheme. Vikings should have a purple helmet and shouldn't try out a black one, and the Ravens should have a black helmet and avoid a purple one.
  3. Idk what in sports history would be weirder than the Medicine Hat A's
  4. Inside sources have confirmed to me that the Las Vegas Raiders will wear black jerseys and the Minnesota Vikings will have horns on their helmet for the upcoming season. I know you guys won't believe me but I expect you all to grovel before me when the season starts
  5. Throw in Adrian Peterson and Chad Greenway to that. For as ugly as the previous unis were, they just look right in them
  6. I've noticed the Panthers have been using blue a lot this off-season. They even photoshoped Darnold into the blue jersey instead of black. Did I miss an announcement or is this normal?
  7. The Bills seriously need to just go with a blue mask
  8. Now there's there's guy that makes me want to get rid of my doghouse
  9. The world has always been hyper-politicized. Take off the rose-colored glasses when looking at the past old man and just accept that language changes and racial slurs aren't okay
  10. In the short term, maybe. The thing is brands last a long time. Eventually everyone angry about ditching the slur will be dead and an entire generation will have grown up only knowing the new name. I think basing your identity solely on the city without a nickname would limit how they can market themselves outside their market. For example: there are kids who decide their favorite team based on what nickname they think is the coolest. I know multiple people that picked the Falcons, Titans, Bengals and Lions as their teams despite having absolutely no connection to any of the cities they're in, simply because they like the nickname. I think going generic would limit that effect and hurt their brand in the long run.
  11. I think a lot of it has to do with psychology. Sports curses don't exist, but the idea of them really starts messing with the "cursed" team. Like how Vikings kickers consistently choke in big situations. Football is a very mental game so any supposed curse goes a long way for performance
  12. Isn't the most common form of colorblindness red-green? This isn't gonna end well
  13. I hope Minnesota changes its flag. Its a SoB and a lot of people find that the imagery on the seal is problematic anyways. A lot of Minnesotans (including me) fly the "north star" flag instead. This: Versus:
  14. Thats an interesting take. I admittedly don't know much about Liberty but that would be a huge jump from where they are now as an independent that just moved into the FBS. They would need to find and join a conference (most likely not a major one) thats willing to put up with its controversies and smallish on-campus population. On top of that they would need to make an immediate impact in that conference and dominate it thoroughly enough to garner national attention. Thats probably not likely at all for them to do in a decade, and probably impossible to do in less than a decade
  15. Nippert holds about as many people as Vanderbilt stadium. That said, I'd much rather see UNC and NCSU in the SEC than anyone else, for geographies sake
  16. The Tommy-Johnny game is going to be missed. It was really the only rivalry between the Twin Cities and outstate that anyone followed. Growing up Catholic in MN you need to pick a side (me being a ruralite picked St. John's) and it becomes a part of your identity. A 100 year rivalry gone just like that
  17. Way better than the wonky stripe across the chest. Minimizing the two colored stripe is a great move
  18. I had an idea for a Washington Generals concept that I'm not talented enough to do but I would like to see happen in some form. They could use Roman Republican military imagery (like using laurels or swords) so the Burgundy and Gold would feel more natural than if they used US military imagery. It could also be an homage to George Washington being the "modern Cincinnatus"
  19. @Buc according to Wikipedia: "The nickname "49ers" derives from the fact that the university's predecessor—Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina (CCUNC – established in 1946) was saved from being shut down by the state in 1949 by Bonnie Cone, when the Charlotte Center became Charlotte College. Due to this "49er spirit" that Cone felt embodied the university, referring to the settlers that endured much hardships in traveling across the United States to seek fortune in the California Gold Rush, students of the fledgling UNC Charlotte chose "49ers" as the school's mascot. The fact that the University's Main Campus front entrance is located on North Carolina Highway 49 is pure coincidence."
  20. ASU students getting drunk while watching a 10-7 OT game isn't reason enough? How else will trust fund frat boys find an excuse to get blasted?
  21. Oops. I forgot about that thread. Could a mod move it over there?
