Pabig
Why is the 6 on Cutler so much thicker than the 6 in the 63 of Garza on that throwback? Terrible inconsistency.
illini1
Why is the 6 on Cutler so much thicker than the 6 in the 63 of Garza on that throwback? Terrible inconsistency.I believe the front numbers on all of those jerseys are thicker than the numbers on the back.

leopard88
Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes these.I didn't post the Ravens before because I thought I would sound biased . . . then I figured it is no more biased than liking Maryland's numbers. PackerFan98
That is a nice font.I didn't notice the flag in Marylands numbers, that's pretty cool.
hawk36
I think for American football, the Bears are the only one I like. I think the non-block font numerals look best for soccer. Not sure why, a more fluid sport? Design Hovie Studios
Jezus_Ghoti
Close to block but I think this counts. I wish a team used it full-time.
Digby
A lot of good non-block numbers in soccer.Portugal's done a few variations on this font that I've always liked. The MLS league-wide font is nice:The USA National team only recently switched to a block font -- perhaps an ode to our history of that kind of thing in sports -- but the previous font was my favorite. Gothamite
The MLS league-wide font is nice:MLS is tweaking the font slightly for next season, incorporating the new league logo and the "MLS Next" slash:But I like it as well. TheOldRoman
Wait, there's a league-wide font? And it's an awful one including horribly-applied grated drop shadows?
leopard88
Wait, there's a league-wide font? And it's an awful one including horribly-applied grated drop shadows? The whole "league-wide font" thing is very soccer. The Premier League does it too. TheOldRoman
That seems extremely peculiar to me. And soccer fonts seem to be loopy and bad in general, but this font is particularly unique and awful as a whole-league thing. It's like if MLB made all teams use the Pirates' font, except a hundred times worse.
Digby
I've never liked how league-wide typefaces are so popular in soccer -- I prefer it when teams have distinctive type of their own, like the Red Sox or the Chicago Bears. Also have no idea how it began, or why some leagues don't do it still (Spain doesn't, nor do international competitions). I'd like the MLS font better if it got rid of the drop shadow and made the numerals slightly bolder, but those aren't deal breakers for me.Worst league-wide font? The one used in the second through fourth divisions in England. Yeesh. I don't any good reason for it.That said, I want some soccer team to bring this back (numbers only, that is).
