You guys are gonna be so mad when I post the Olympic story tomorrow hahahaha

I'm looking forward to it already.

Lids will be flipped, egos will be bruised, butts will be hurt, but - at the end of the day - some really good stuff will be posted. That's what counts.

2030 Bozeman Olympics

The 2022 Winter Olympic bids came down to Beijing and Astana, Kazakhstan. Voting occurred in 2015, and Beijing won the bid due to infrastructure and previous Olympic structures. The Russian team geared up and won the gold over Canada with help from KHL stars. The Winter Olympics returned to Europe in 2026. After voting was held in 2019, Dresden, Germany won over Quebec City, and Barcelona. The Germans were great hosts, and provided the stage for one of the best Winter Olympics in recent history. The Fins won their first gold medal in their history over the Americans.

At our time in history, North America hasn’t hosted the event since 2010. So the bidding process naturally came down to an American and Canadian city. Edmonton was selected to host the event for Canada. They had the Eskimos stadium, a new NHL rink, and mountains readily available. The American bid was more interesting. The smaller city of Bozeman, Montana wanted the games. Before you call out my bull :censored:, let me explain. Bozeman’s Metropolitan Area’s population had passed 250,000 people due to a technology boom, and natural wonder. The mountain views, and new airport gave the city some nice pros. It was a college town, which meant that there were facilities available to use. The Bobcats began upgrading their football, and basketball facilities when they leaped to FBS with Montana, joining the Mountain West. The Montana Tourist Board, and USOC teamed up to bring the games to Montana, since the bid for the 2022 games were too soon. Probably the biggest thing is the 50th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, also held at a small town in the US.
The bid had modern amenities with plans that could be used after the Olympics are over. Bobcat Stadium expanded to 40,000 seats with the division jump. With help from alumni donations, Montana State would build a new 10,000 seat indoor arena would be built on campus for indoor sports. Current basketball arena, Worthington Arena, was 7,000 seats and would be used for curling and speed skating, and eventually demolished after the games. A 15,000 seat arena would be built near downtown by the city. They promised an AHL team would be playing in the arena by 2030. Improved ski facilities would help the tourism of an already world class resort. The Olympic village would be built next to Montana State, with the building going to the college for student housing after the games.
The voting took place in the summer of 2023. That year, the people of Edmonton protested the cost of the games. The city also had record snow fall the week the Olympics would be hosted if there was a 2023 edition of the games. The news came from Switzerland that the small mountain town would host the games, and construction started.

The United States lost to defending champion Finland, but then won the last 2 of their group games to advance as the runner up of group A. The Swedes, Russians, and Canadians all breezed by their groups. The Americans beat the Swedes in the first knockout game. That set up a match against Russia in a rematch of that game 50 years ago. Ironically, the Americans won 4-3 in 2030, wearing throwbacks reminiscent of the 1980 jerseys. Canada had beaten up on Slovenia, and Finland. This set up for a border war of epic proportions. The US scored with 4 minutes to go in a 1-1 game, ultimately sealing the gold medal.
----------
I saw Bozeman’s name on the list of Olympic bids in 2022, and I thought the games there would be funny since it would have to beat out world cities. I had an idea for a logo. It’s a silhouette of a mountain, in the shape of an M. Pretty simple, but I thought it fell under the style of Olympic logos.
I'm gonna release the jerseys in alphabetical order

The Bozemanians--or are they Bozites?--will be overjoyed. Although I'm not sure they have enough McDonald's to sustain the Olympic Games. Not to mention, what is the city's light rail situation? I mean, did you really think this through? Also, will you be releasing the color schemes for each Olympic team beforehand? Maybe a roster? Not sure I can comment on any of this without knowing everything in advance. ;)(sorry, couldn't help myself)

In all seriousness, fantastic work as always. I'm looking for something to ping both of you on, but...I'm still looking. Can't wait to see more!

Ok we were supposed to be mad why?

ugh, because if you aren't American, you may be disappointed in the results. As a Canadian, I am disappointed that Quebec and Edmonton didnt win any bids and Team Canada seems to keep losing. Althought its not true, its the idea of it that would be disappointing. Him saying we will be "mad" is basically embellishing the disappointment of about half of the readers.

I've never heard of Bozeman and I'm usually the one who knows about stupid little places everywhere, interesting storyline although as stated above, its too bad Canada isnt hosting the Olympics in the near future haha.

edit: looking up Bozeman, I'd say that is an accurate prediction of population growth and a beautiful landscape to boot.

Can definitely see you'd think we'd be mad, but I understand that you're American and think that US will ever stand a chance against Canada lol.

How did you find this Bozeman place? I think it's a great idea, but it's just so random I just have to ask.

I'm a little disappointed about Austria and France not being selected for the Olympics, but I appreciate the thought about hockey developing in South Korea, Belarus, Slovenia and Croatia.

Other than that, I can't wait!

He went where no hockey player has gone before (but many of us might after April 5, 2063). :D

I was reading up on 2022's bid and saw the potential US bids that fell through. It was Denver, Salt Lake, Reno, and Bozeman. I just thought it'd be funny to use a tiny tiny town to host the games. I'm gonna go type up Belarus right now.

Belarus
This concept is carried over from a sim hockey league I wanted to start up, but ended up failing. Belarus has a cool patterned stripe on their flag, and I thought that it’d be cool to see on a jersey. I could’ve gone modern, but I went with a traditional look, just because it’s a juxtaposition to the crazy pattern. The colors are unique too, how often do you see red and green on a jersey? It’s a big difference from the red and blue teams you’ll see later. The front has Belarus running down it, because it has to be somewhat simplistic for the Olympics.

"In a near future where Dustin Johnson retires and moves out to live the rest of his life in Belarus with his wife Paulina Gretzky and son T. Gretzky"

Now on to some C&C

I'm not a huge fan of how the pattern blends in to bottom of the hem and arms. I would add the green stripe to the bottom of the design. The "9" is off-centered on the backs of the jerseys and the captain's patch is too small. This one is just nit-picky, but I feel like the logo script would look better if the letters were spaced out a bit more.

But all in all I like the idea.

As an Edmontonian, I am disappointed we didn't get the Games over Bozeman (it would finally shut Calgary and Vancouver up about theirs), but realistically, we are a four hour drive away from any alpine facilities. Unless we had a bullet train by then to Jasper, it just doesn't seem feasible.

Use the rules of heraldry for more effective sports logos! i.e. keep it simple, use good contrast...

First off RaySox, love the whole backstory on the Olympic bidding up to Bozeman winning in 2030. Excellent research as always mate. It is quite realistic with Bozeman booming the way RaySox predicted. As for the Bozeman 2030 logo, simple and quite realistic for what current Olympic logos are right now. I like Belarus' jersey concepts, the nice use of interweaving the eastern European style into the lower hems and the use of red and green on a jersey. Reminds me of the days of the New Jersey Devils. Looking forward to the rest of the reveal.

As far as I'm concerned, NASH will never die. Chicago Stars forever.

Also, more Olympics jerseys should be up tomorrow, I've got some in the oven
