BBTV 19,480 Posted February 18, 2015 The Sixers have announced that they plan to start the post-tank era with new uniforms. They appear to be going with the ever-popular "combination of eras" method of design, which never fails. Discuss.

-kj 2,331 Posted February 18, 2015 A reminder, again, that it's cool to break bigger stories out of mega threads. Carry on.
BBTV 19,480 Posted February 18, 2015 Already have on the last few pages here I'm not sure how I missed that thread, I actually did look for it to see if it was posted. Another reason why megathreads suck. So here we are. Copying a post from that thread since it shows the uniforms that will be mashed up. If nobody wants to discuss it here, then just send this thread to the apocryphal graveyard. Ok so these are the 3 jerseys from the video: And these are their home/road counter parts Can someone with more Photoshop skills than me do a mock up of some combo of the 3? Taking from the video I'm guessing it's going to be: Home whites that say Sixers, Blue roads that say PHILA and Red alts that says Sixers. One thing that all 3 have in common are the rwb stripes around the collar/shoulders
the admiral 28,246 Posted February 18, 2015 The third one in that set is really all they need.
BBTV 19,480 Posted February 18, 2015 The third one in that set is really all they need. At home, yes. I like blue as a road color, and I like the PHILA mark too, so I'd like a blue jersey with white PHILA wordmark with a red outline (I'd say reverse that, but then you look like the Pistons.) Then just use the red SIXERS jersey as the alt, or just say eff it and go with a black and gold version as an homage to the Iverson era for an alt (yeah it sucks for the brand, but it'd sell like crazy.)
jrodsep 567 Posted February 18, 2015 How about a mash up of this: and this: Fix the wordmark so it looks less cluttered and you have a winner.
BBTV 19,480 Posted February 18, 2015 Those Iverson jerseys are so overrated IMO. You have a wordmark that's individual letters are double outlined, and then the whole wordmark is double outlined, creating that silly unnecessary line that connects the R and S.And the number looks kinda copperplate-ish. It's just a disaster. The trim and side design was OK.Mashups generally don't work. I'd be OK with that PHILA uniform, or a modernization of it, but maybe with the colors inverted.
EddieJ1984 1,624 Posted February 18, 2015 Am I the only one hoping this means they bring back the funny 70s funny as seen in the one picture?

Maybe even a PHILA? I agree the third is all they need, but they kind of tried that with the current set minus some outlines and not many seem to like it. (I did.)
dolphins91 74 Posted February 18, 2015 I used to hate the black red and blue, but I actually want them to bring it back. It was unique
mjd77 1,503 Posted February 18, 2015 This will be interesting. Even though the current set is also retro inspired, I've never liked it. It just seemed like not a lot of effort was put into it.
FiddySicks 11,048 Posted February 18, 2015 Meh. How many different ways can you really do R/W/B?

As far as mashup goes, if the video is any indication, that's exactly what we are getting a mashup of some sort of all three on the video.

LAWeaver 948 Posted February 18, 2015 I actually prefer the black-and-gold era color scheme over the current, but not so much the uniforms from that era. I can't remember who did it, but someone over in the Concepts section had a perfect combination of the two, where they put the current logo in the other colors. I'll see if I can find it on Google
EddieJ1984 1,624 Posted February 18, 2015 Meh. How many different ways can you really do R/W/B?The 76ers are a great example of how to do it in many many ways. The 78 uniforms I hope is what it most resembles
BBTV 19,480 Posted February 18, 2015 Match the number font to the word mark and I'd be cool with that.
Sodboy13 5,577 Posted February 18, 2015 I realize it was the 1970s, and design standards for uniforms were nowhere near what they are now, but who in God's name let that "e" happen?
