Sports Degrees of Separation

Similar to the popular film game, I wonder just how easy this would be for sports teams? One rule, though, links must be direct teammates in their respective LEAGUES.

Example: Joe Sakic to Jarome Iginla= Joe Sakic -> Alex Tanguay -> Jarome Iginla (Olympic teams and All-Star Games DON'T COUNT)

First one: Jack Adams to Matt Stajan

1. Jack Adams to King Clancy (1927 Senators)
2. King Clancy to Turk Broda (1936 Leafs)
3. Turk Broda to Tim Horton (1952 Leafs)
4. Tim Horton to Dave Keon (1970 Leafs)
5. Dave Keon to Ron Francis (1982 Whalers)
6. Ron Francis to Matt Stajan (2004 Leafs)

You can skip Greg Jennings; Brett Favre played with Adrian Peterson on the 2009-10 Vikings.

Sammy Baugh to Lou Rymkus (1943 Washington Redskins)

Who'd've thought Rochester would be such a hub for multisport crossovers?

The very first first-overall NHL draft pick, Garry Monahan, to the most recent first-overall in Connor McDavid?

*Garry Monahan drafted, 1963*

Garry Monahan to Joel Quenneville ('78 Maple Leafs)

Joel Quenneville to Peter Bondra ('90 Capitals)

Peter Bondra to Sergei Gonchar ('03 Capitals)

Sergei Gonchar to Mark Letestu ('09 Penguins)

Mark Letestu to Connor McDavid ('15 Oilers)

That's five. Can anyone find a way to erase a step?
