You know he'll be back for the playoffs, right?

They're 4th now and definately be no better than 6th for the playoffs. Balmer ain't paying that team just to make two to four additional game of revenue. He wants more than a 6 seed and at least round 2.

Not sure how that translates to them being done. If the team is healthy for the playoffs they have just as good a chance as any other team at beating the Warriors, no matter the seeding.

Who will they acquire then to be any threat? They're not a threat as currently constructed.

Carmelo Anthony or Rubio?

The Lakers have really turned out to be stinkers this year. Many close games, but they're almost always on the wrong side of them.

The Sixers are killing it lately -- an incredibly 7-3 in their last 10!

James Harden is the most fun player in the NBA this season. People like Giannis and the Bucks, but they've been hanging around .500 all season and haven't gone on a good run. The Rockets are blowing them out right now.

Lakers stil need to be bad for this year since their pick is Top-3 protected, otherwise it goes to the Sixers.  After this season, the pick is unrestricted.

You might get Ben Simmons - unless they decide to sit him for the whole year.  Why not?  They did it for everyone else.  Also Maybe JoJo's minutes restriction will be reduced by then.  Not sure what their plan is.

Trust the process.

Yeah the 76ers might be... good now? Ben Simmons still hasn't even logged minutes but right now if they can keep this energy up, ooh wee.

I don't know if using your cell phone camera constitutes "going crazy", but Embiid is starting to draw some scary comparisons.  I don't know nearly enough about him or basketball in general to chime in, but he really does seem to be the type of guy that can single-handedly revive the sport in one of its formerly greatest markets.  And if he cant?  Well Ben Simmons is standing right behind him waiting for his chance.  Even Super Dario looks like a potential star (at times.)

Just need to get Okefor's ass out of town ASAP.

EDIT: they've used the exact same Mr. Burns "Excellent" sound byte after free throws for at least 16 years now.

Hinke would still be tanking. They have a proper coach and proper GM who did something smart like trade Jerami Grant for Ersan Ilyasova.

I'd be more impressed if Hinkie had drafted Giannis, Nikola Jokic, or Porzingis. One of the three (instead of Noel, Grant and Okafor). He hit the jackpot on Embiid, but there weren't many obvious wins after him.

I wish the Sixers success rebuilding after Hinkie broke the franchise.

Hinkie built the franchise.  He is the franchise.  At the time, was anyone critical of the Noel pick?  It was universally applauded as him making a move to get a #1-overall talent at #6 or 7 or whatever for nothing.  Were many people not picking Okefor there?  Not sure things were as obvious in hindsight.

He loaded them with talent and draft picks.  It's true that he had no end game and probably planned to "process" things forever, but I don't think that just anyone could have done what he did.  that being said, (again I don't know basketball, but) it seems like the kind of thing where his job was to tear it down and build it up,  but nobody ever thought he was the guy to lead it into the future once "the process" had run its course.

Fortunately, his memory will live on, even if only ironically, whenever Embiid is introduced.

Right. We all know nobody's beating the Warriors this year, and that this season is just an extended deathmarch towards the inevitable Cavs rematch in the Finals.

The season means nothing. It would make the most sense for all of us to politely sit on our hands and wait for June, but as basketball fans we need something to talk about and hope for. And when the playoffs come, the Spurs will try and save us, the Rockets will try and save us, and They the North will try and save us, and a healthy Clippers has just as good a shot as any of them.
