Selig wasn't perfect by any means, but at least he rejected a huge amount of ad creep on the field and his legacy will be better because of it. Manfred's job is to increase league revenues and protect the integrity of the game but there has to be a better way than this :censored:. The scary thing to ponder is what will happen after the Sinclair/streaming issues are resolved. Don't worry, the ads on the baselines and the mound are just temporary so MLB can recoup the losses from the pandemic!
BBTV
Can we stop with the phrase "maker's mark"? Nike didn't actually make the uniforms for the past few years, and in both baseball and NFL, the uniform advertiser (Reebok, Puma, Russell, etc) didn't "make" the uniform. It's an advertisement. There's absolutely no other way to look at the swoosh other than as an advertisement. And it sucks - just like these ads do. I'll never understand anyone defending ads on uniforms. 6 1 "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." Well, the hat, not the decision to pass over on the many other sources of inspiration for the City Connect in favour of an absolutely rotten team that played in possibly the most aptly named stadium of all time.

Rendering the uniforms less... well, uniform. In fairness, individual numbers - and in the case of some teams, player names - are just as guilty of rendering uniforms less uniform, but that's in the service of player identification. This is a move away from uniform uniformity solely to facilitate turning human beings into walking billboards. What's next, different virtual corporate logos being added to each player's uniform during broadcasts. How about corporate logos and company names being added to a player's eyeblack during close-ups? Hmmmmm.

Pitchers can opt to have it on their non-throwing arm if the primary side sleeve is their throwing side. Position players might have this option if they bat left or right, but either way every player will have 1 ad patch.
