FiddySicks
The most hilarious thing about this is all of the Giants fans screaming about how “This means they have $360 million to spend on guys like Correa and Nimmo now, and have more money to give Ohtani next season, too!” When it’s obvious to anyone with a brain that the Giants aren’t going to end up with any of those guys. This off season has been a complete and total failure for the Giants, just as the previous off season was. I’m so tired of this team being “in the running” for these guys and not closing on a single one of them. I’d honestly rather them just try to run the team like the Rays or A’s if this is how it’s going to be. 1 1 On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) DoctorWhom
Red Sox better keep Devers or the Winter Classic is the most fans Fenway will see in 2023. Obviously wanted to keep him, but 11 years for a guy in in 30's? Yeah.......
Digby
Paying that money for Bogaerts til he’s 41 is insane, but that doesn’t let the Red Sox off the hook for offering insultingly low extensions to him and ensuring that they would find themselves in this position to lose him. Trevor Story could walk down the aisles of any Stop-n-Shop and be totally anonymous; good luck counting on him to get butts in seats.

FiddySicks
yes, I love it. Ultimate Dodger heel is home. I :censored:ing love being wrong! https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1602887992313626625?s=20&t=gyeS6ik6s2_7z2oFE0vfBA Crazy, stupid overpay and I don’t even care. I’m just happy the Giants were actually able to finally land a top name free agent. Last one was, like, Barry Zito. Last big position player? Burkell007
They need to put a cap on contact lengths, guy will be 41 when this is over….like the NHL had this and then wised…..well somewhat. Cap it at 5 years like the NBA.
DCarp1231
IIRC, Orioles GM Mike Elias said they’d use this off-season to spend big money on FAs. What have they done? Signed innings-eater Kyle Gibson for 1 yr-10M and a couple fringe players and have let multiple high level stars slip through their hands.

From reading The Athletic this morning, the Twins were offering 10 years at a higher average annual salary than the Giants offer, but Correa took the extra years instead. Just maddening. So the Twins could've offered anything between $270M/10 and $349M/10 and, although the AAV would be higher, overall, it'd be less money. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall

So you're right: Their deal was $280/10.

FiddySicks
I’d say that’s a ridiculous amount and length for a guy like Rodon, but my team just signed a shortstop to a 13 year deal worth $350 million, so I probably don’t have any room to talk.
