I thought he left SF because of his health? Then again if it were the case, it shouldn't surprise me if guys like Francona and Showalter haven't called it quits yet.

That was the excuse, but the truth was probably a lot closer to saw the writing on the wall with Farhan and how he wanted to run the team, and decided to step down before it got awkward and they ended up firing the most beloved manager in franchise history.

Goes from wearing one of the all time classic uniform sets in one of the most picturesque parks in one of the greatest places to live in the country to wearing mix-and-match softball uniforms and working in a Costco.

Apparently the new owner, John Sherman, wants a more analytics-based approach to the new front office. Can't go wrong by hiring someone from the best ran organization (on-field anyway) in baseball.

Sure you can, unless you’re hiring the actual mastermind behind the operation - and they’re not, because those guys rarely become available. Everyone hires Patriots assistants and none have succeeded. Being affiliated with success does not necessarily make one successful.

This is probably the best way for Bonds, Clemens, Mattingly or Schilling to get in next year

Since Papi is in, they can't keep these guys out without saying they don't want them in because they're jerks.

The player exodus continues for the Nats. I'm not sure what, if any, high-level talent would come to DC in the offseason, especially since it doesn't help that the team is for sale.

The Reds have already said they're not going to have a drastically different roster from the one that just lost 100 games. It's like they're trying to sell zero tickets.

Seeing the Reds, Athletics and Pirates struggle mightily is sad. Would love to see an era of baseball where all 3 can be World Series contenders

It's incredible seeing who was on their roster in 2019 and just looking at it now. It makes me glad they managed to actually go on that run a few years ago.

I'm happy they made that run too! It made it up for all those playoff heartbreaks beforehand. Who knows when the Nats will make it back to the World Series.
