2023 NFL Regular Season Through Super Bowl LVIII

The Ravens always win when I want them to lose, and lose when I want them to win. They’re the goddamn Steelers but in Purple.

The regular season has not been great for the Chiefs but they always step it up in the post season.

Cool under pressure. They've been there now so many times they don't sweat it. Baltimore is amped up and you can tell Lamar is struggling a bit. Made a great TD pass when he panicked on the rush, but then gave up the easy fumble strip sack.

I picked the Chiefs to go back to the Super Bowl at the start of the season.  When they were struggling in the regular season, I thought "eh, they'll step it up in the playoffs."

The Chiefs are the Patriots of this decade.

While sports fans are enjoying the fact that the Warriors and Lakers are struggling (Lakers would be in the play-in tournament and Warriors would be out if it if the playoffs start today) and the Yankees are too, there's always the Chiefs and Astros for fans to hate.

Chiefs should’ve taken the points but the Ravens don’t seem like they’re in any hurry to make them pay for it.

I’m not saying any more for fear of cursing my team.

I’m really so excited to hear about how they overcame so much adversity when [checks notes] Their QB didn’t get every single call go his way and he got really mad about it. And when they had the off the field distraction of [checks notes again] their tight end deciding to date the  most famous musician in the world. Gonna be so great to hear how they overcame all of that and came together as a team. America’s team, in fact.

It’s amazing how quickly they overtook the Pats on the annoying scale. Hokey ass Walmart Patriots.

I have family that are Chiefs fans from Missouri (and one that married in in PA that just always was a fan).... one of the most annoying fan bases ever. Even back under the Grbac days. I knew if they won a title, they'd be beyond annoying. Now having two titles in three appearances... yeah. They're so much worse than Pats fans. At least Boston area fans have a lot of success in other sports, too. KC had one run with the Royals and it's all Chiefs beyond that.

It’s weird because this just feels like the same soulless corporate machine as we got last decade but in different uniforms. It’s the Gen Z version of continued misery.

I don't think so. Reid isn't on the same level as Belichick in terms of building a system that was damn near foolproof and plug-and-play. The Chiefs are doing it with talent more than process. Their offensive line is a bunch of lunkheads who almost screw it all up; Brady's line was nearly impervious. Chiefs defense is fine; Patriots defense was unstoppable until Belichick seemingly got bored doing defense. We're not getting 20 years out of the Chiefs.

I will give you that both teams get deus-ex-machinaed out of trouble by the refs but luck is the residue of design and you see the same thing with the Packers and Steelers as much if not more; besides, we live in a world where success comes by working the refs so they may as well reflect the zeitgeist.

Here’s my hot take: Don’t look to the Belichick Patriots for the best comparison to the current Chiefs. Look to the Bill Walsh 49ers. Coach with a rich tree, best quarterback of the era and now there’s even a budding great wide receiver with the last name Rice.

Agreed. We went over this weeks ago but Brady was a passenger for the whole first act of his career who got by on O-line, defense, run game, special teams, and boy-next-door-good-looks narrative.

Yeah I had a feeling Baltimore had some real fraud vibes to them coming into the playoffs.  Thought they would catch it last round, but meh. Big wet slap of a turd either way.

Andy Reid is a protege of Mike Holmgren, who was a protege of Bill Walsh.
