Germanshepherd
It had to be them. Wish I could have been there in person, but I’d have to say this first season was a success. Attendance was better than I thought leaguewide, and the Supernovas are already an established name here in the state. 3 Quote i have unquantifiable corpses on my conscience
4_tattoos
Just finished watching the game. Had to record it since I had a prior commitment (SN; I found out firsthand how difficult it is to avoid spoilers of a live sporting event). Congrats to the champions!!! I guess now that the PVF season is over this thread could be used to follow the women's national team in the VNL tournament and the Olympics this summer. 1 Quote Hotter Than July > Thriller

I would love to have a NY team in the PVF, maybe I can go to a game someday.

A team on Long Island at the old Nassau Coliseum would be interesting. 1

For me: New York Mermaids (Similar to the New York Riptide/Islanders, keeping the tradition.) New York Hearts (Based on the "I Heart NY" slogan) New York Havahs (Based on statue in NY) New York Monarchs (Butterfly themed that also is Queens reference)

If they follow the USFL/XFL model they'll probably go with adidas for the uniforms. I guess the big question is where do they fit in the calendar? Could they take a page from Liga MX and do split seasons based around the Olympics and national team tournaments?

I like the idea of North American Volleyball (NAVB). That way, if you want to consider teams in Canada or Mexico, you're good to go with the name. I think the max size of the league would probably be 8 teams to start, so I guess the question is who survives once they get to that point, and what is the formula to decide that? Is it possible that they have a big enough talent pool available, US and worldwide, to keep all of the teams in place? The advantage they have over the UFL is that they aren't dealing with other leagues in the United States that could challenge how they reform. Both leagues have teams in Omaha and Atlanta, no way two teams in the same sport will co-exist in a merged league.

Plus both of these leagues have been pressing the whole "American players getting to play in America" angle hard. 5 hours ago, GDAWG said: I was referring to the name of the merged league. May depend on whose investors/owners have deeper pockets. I think many people aren't going to like the branding in LOVB. You see all the hoopla that was raised over Washington Football Team, PWHL (insert city) and now Utah Hockey Club. Hell, even MLS fans are starting to complain about the abundance of (insert city) FC/United names. Now LOVB is seriously going to present American fans with 6 teams named LOVB (insert city) Volleyball? With random squiggles for logos? When their rival league has names like Supernovas, Valkyries and Fury? Not mention proper logos. Honestly I think if you take hardcore American volleyball fans out the equation (that would likely new who many of the players are in both leagues already), and just let general sports fans pick which league they would rather follow based on branding alone, most would pick PVF Quote Hotter Than July > Thriller
