Looks like we could be closer to radio comms this upcoming season.

https://www.operationsports.com/schools-confirming-their-participation-in-ea-sports-college-football-on-february-15/

Reportedly, schools that are in the new EA Sports game are going to start identifying themselves. This doesn't mean we'll see any media from EA on the day.

https://stanforddaily.com/2024/02/13/new-ncaa-video-game-features-stanford/

Interesting note in terms of compensation:

"With the NCAA now allowing student-athletes to capitalize on their name, image and likeness, EA can compensate athletes to appear in the game. While a report last spring claimed that EA would offer athletes $500 to be in the game, this has not been confirmed by the company or any University.

Risso also did not specify the compensation student-athletes would receive when asked by The Daily. Neither did Risso confirm whether face scans of current players would be included in the game.

Each school will receive a certain amount of payout money that depends on the “tier” a team lands in. Tiers are based on the number of AP Top 25 finishes over the past decade, according to a 2021 memo obtained acquired by Matt Brown of “Extra Points” via the Freedom of Information Act".

Army vs Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium! Both needed to add games to their schedules and this also recognizes the 100th anniversary of the Four Horseman game.

"The worst-kept secret around Notre Dame football no longer is one. After months of delays, Notre Dame announced its new 12th game for the 2024 schedule, a familiar opponent in a familiar venue: The Irish will bring back the Shamrock Series for the second time under Marcus Freeman, returning to Yankee Stadium to face Army on Nov. 23.

That means the Irish will finish next season on both coasts — Notre Dame plays at USC a week later — while also making two trips to the New York area. The Irish face Navy at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Oct. 26".

Paying them legitimately, am I right? Texas A&M bought Eric Dickerson a Trans Am, and he never played a down for them.

Dickerson said he had to take a pay cut when he left SMU to play for the Rams.

Imagine being a football program so big and powerful that you don’t have to play in a conference and can pick your own schedule, and STILL choose to play both of the service academies 🤦‍♂️

Does Notre Dame still get any bull:censored: privileges with the CFP that they did with the BCS? I still can’t believe they gained an automatic BCS bid every time they won ten games.

I think because of their affiliation with the ACC they probably could, but since they’re independent. I think they should be treated like the group of 5 instead of the power 4. But we know that’ll never happen

Miami pulled out at the last minute due to their new ACC schedule. Otherwise this doesn't happen. Notre Dame also knows the worst they can finish us 11-1 to be considered for the playoffs. And even then, it might not be enough with their 2024 schedule.

There was 2020 (or 2021?) where they got curb-stomped in the ACC Championship game by Clemson and got in over a more deserving Texas A&M team.  So yeah, the bias towards ND was strong enough to somehow get two ACC teams in despite consistently being a weak conference.

A&M have proven time and time again they don't deserve anything. They're probably cranky they actually have to play Texas again, because it's another game they have a good chance to lose (sarcasm).

Nobody has proven they don’t deserve CFP consideration over a team with a comparable résumé like Notre Dame has.

So now there is talk of a 14 team playoff with The BIG & SEC getting 3 automatic bids each (6 spots) and their conference Champions the only 2 teams that get a bye. Why don't they both just break away now and get it over with. :censored:ing dicks.

They’d make a lot less money is why. And when you already get everything you want why would you leave?

What about Oklahoma? They haven't made it past the semifinals in their four trips to the playoffs, and two of them weren't even close. Only one of those times did they lose to the eventual Champions. Notre Dame lost to the eventual champions both times, and the teams that lost in those championships lost by even bigger margins than Notre Dame did. That's not to say Notre Dame shouldn't be criticized for how they performed, as they clearly faceplanted, but there has has been a lot of lopsided football in the playoffs.

Due to (obvious) pushback, I don't think we'll have to worry about that happening. But there is also this...

https://awfulannouncing.com/college-football/big-ten-sec-cfb-college-football-playoff-revenue.html

Apparently they also want the majority of the revenue earned from the CFP. The closest thing to European Super League s**t I can see. At this point, I actually really am rooting for them to just separate themselves from the rest of college football.

Northwestern will take a page from Hawaii and turn a practice field into their main stadium while Ryan Field gets rebuilt.  This will be for their low paying games of course, I can't see them hosting any of the big boys there unless absolutely necessary.

Their 3 biggest home games are with Wisconsin, Ohio State & Illinois. They probably play the Badgers & Buckeyes at Soldier with the Illini game at Wrigley.

Ohio State was testing the helmet comms during the Spring Game. I think that's the best move going forward. It'll help stop some of the sign stealing issues that have been happening, even if they aren't completely gone. I don't think they needed to add the 2 minute warning. They say it's not a TV timeout, then why even have it?
