Ah... GOOD RIDDANCE.

The argument from the Dutch committee was that he had served his sentence, even though he only spent like a year in prison which seems like a light sentence for raping a preteen, but that part's just my opinion. Also apparently he wasn't allowed to stay in the Olympic Village, which seems like the primary appeal of being an Olympian in one of these non-glory sports, so at least there's that.

Fastest man in the world is again an American. Noah Lyles talked mad :censored: and backed it up.

That race definitely delivered. I’m more of a fan of the swimming portion of the summer games over the track and field portion but the men’s 100m is definitely the event.  Barely know anything about any of those guys but based on the prelims and how they talked about them, really felt like a wide open race.

A little bummed swimming is over. Rowdy Gaines is an s-tier commentator and his enthusiasm is infectious.

It’s been a good Olympics for Florida Gators. Especially since I’m claiming Katie Ledecky since she trains and coaches at UF (she actually went to Stanford, iirc)

edit: watching that again, I like Leigh Diffey but that’s a bad call. My initial reaction was Lyles but it was way too close to say Thompson won gold (obviously)

Trying to figure out how the Unites States doesn't dominate in every gun shooting event...

That’s more of a school sport here. And talent tends to start dropping off at the professional level in America.

There’s a Crime in Sports episode on the guy, where they emphasize how ridiculously lenient the court was in his sentence and time served. I wouldn’t mind if the Dutch committee got a sanction for allowing him to play.

I've been enjoying these games with the peacock app a lot. I can parachute into a sport, check it out for as long as I'm interested, and then get out. It's a choose your own adventure Olympics rather than just what NBC network wants to show me in prime time. I watched the men's hammerthrow final yesterday and was riveted. The Gold Zone thing is pretty cool too.

NBC please make it a permanent thing, and also do it in the Winter Games less than 2 years from now

3x3 needs additional danger. @BBTV, can your football gorilla lend a helping hand?

Each country gets to have one of its shooters at each game, and they get one shot per game (except during free throws - that would be too easy. Coach could call for the shot right away and play the whole game 3 on 2, but if by some chance the shooter misses, then the other team has a distinct advantage.

The shooters don't have to shoot at the players either - if a game winning 3-ball is in the air at the buzzer, the shooter can shoot the ball.

Tell me the sight of these on the sidelines wouldn't up the pace of play.
