Korkie
Caballos (horses = Phillies)I get why you used that, but that spelling is Filly or Fillies. The Phillies nickname came from an old-school nickname for Philadelphians. Los Reales de Kansas City (per El Nuevo Herald)Los Yankees de Nueva York (per El Nuevo Herald)"El" is incorrect. El is in singualr form. For a team name you must use the plural "Los" for it to be proper. It's Los Filis de Filadelfia. The "ph" would make a "p" sound. The "ll" in spanish is pronounced like a y. Infact the "ll" is one letter, just like "ch". 1997 | 2003
winghaz
Teams could go by strong ethnicities for names. For example, Minnesota could use Norwegian. That we we'd have the Tvillinger (Twins), Vikings (same word in English and Norwegian), Vill (Wild) and Tommerulv (Timberwolves).Or Milwaukee could be German. We would have the Breuers (obviously Brewers), Bocke (Bucks) and, even though it is in Green Bay, the Packer (I couldn't find a German word for it).New York was originally New Amsterdam, so we could go Dutch there (and I am including New Jersey teams). Yankees is Yankees in Dutch. Ontmoete for Mets. Reuzen for Giants (I don't know why). Straalvliegtuigen for Jets (could you imagine Jets fans spelling that out instead of J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!). Knicks would be the original name, Knickerbocker. Nets would be Netten. Rangers would be Zwervers. Islanders would be Eilandbewoners. And Devils would be Duivels.St. Louis and New Orleans have French origins. We could have the Cardinaux (Cardinals), Beliers (Rams), Bleu (Blues), Saints (the same thing) and Frelons (Hornets).I'm not even going to bother with Spanish names. Too many cities for that. But my favorites are the Canadian teams, spoken in Canadian -- Blue Jays eh, Maple Leafs eh ...
ColeJ
during the 2000 stanley cup finals, me and my sister went out to buy a little martin brodeur figure at the mall... so we tied him up with green and gold rope, put duct tape over his mouth and chest, and wrote "les etoiles reigne" on the tape over the devils logo... as part of a voodoo-style kipnap dummy......needless to say, it didn't really work......but it's been 5 years, and it's still all wrapped up, and sitting on my computer table.so i suppose the dallas stars would be "Les Etoiles de Dallas"
