team mascots

You gotta love it when Tommy Trojan rides Traveler (or whatever their names are) at USC games. (And you didn't think LA had any good mascots).

Tommy Trojan technically isn't a mascot... he's the drum major of the USC marching band.

Anyone notice that at Eagles games, during player intro's, there's actually two Swoops on the field? The real one (usually running around high-fiving the players) and a giant inflatable one, who just kind of hops in place and falls down (maggie simpson style) a lot.

Yep theyre called ZOOperstars. Pretty funny I think

Nah, I don't think it's a Zooperstar, although the concept is pretty much the same. He doesn't have nearly as much mobility as a zooperstar, and on their site they don't list him or the Eagles as a client. I think he's a little bigger too.

They do list the Phillies, however, but I have no idea what character they have for the Phillies.

Gotta represent Appleton...Fang, mascot of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Class A Midwest League)

And the Milwaukee Bucks' Bango:

Love to show you the Packers' mascot but...

(they tried, once, with a guy in a butcher shop outfit called Packy Packer. Yeesh.)

Maybe Packy had something to do with the fan favorites in Milwaukee:

Mr Red is a rip off of Mr Met.

Depends on what you are talking about, Tank.

Mr. Met obviously can't be any older than 1962. But here's a picture of the 1953 All-Star Game logo:

And I cannot support this with a picture, but I think Mr. Red goes back at least to the 1940s...

Now, if you're talking about when they made humans get into costumes of the mascots, I am not sure one way or the other. But Mr. Red is at least a decade or 2 older than Mr. Met, so I don't know that Mr. Red is the ripoff (although he did shave off the cheesy 'stache at some point). I went as Mr. Red for Hallowe'en one year - my mom had to make the giant papier-mache head for me. It was awesome.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Also no pic though, Snowbird was a Penguin and mascot of the Cincinnati Cyclones. He also told us what schools were open and closed in the winter

Pat: Here's a photo of the G-man you were referring to, but he's not an official mascot, just a fan who dresses up (this was taken at the team's Fan Fest earlier this year)

Mr Met is a ripoff of Mr Red IMO. (but to be honest only so much you can do with a baseball man) the reds were the first MLB baseball team back in the late 1800's(too lazy to go look at the year on my team photo of the original team). Mr Red showed up in the late 40's early 50's. Mr Met is from 1962 as pointed out by Vitamin.
