Portis fined for non-uniform uniform

The fine is perfectly appropriate.

They wanted to "express themselves," fine. But they'll have to pay the price.

If I was part of the Redskins management or coaching staff, I'd be furious with them. In this, the ultimate team game, these two players are trying to make it all about them.

I had a presentation at school today...and my socks didn'tmatch. Think my grades will suffer for it?

No I don't....and I don't think you could have missed the point more.

I think he got the point just fine. Unless I am missing his point, I THINK he was being sarcastic to make the point that the NFL is being too strict.

One of the reasons why the dark visor is not prohibited is because if a player is knocked silly. Team doctors want to see the players eyes, and removing the helmet could cause serious problems if said player has a neck injury.

God, this is annoying the CRAP out of me. When I'm watching football, the last thing I notice is the socks/shoes. THEY ARE SOCKS AND SHOES....HOW AND WHY THE HELL DO YOU GET FINED FOR WEARING DIFFERENT SOCKS AND SHOES. You guys just sounds like people who don't even care about sports- only about how "cute" the unis look.

repeat after me, newbie.

this site deals with logos and uniforms.

Then why did you bother taking the time to register on this site????

Do you seriously think it's okay if players get to decide what they wear? What if 51 Cowboys players want to wear white jerseys, and one guy doesn't....should he get to wear what he wants???

I am required to wear a tie at my job, and this is not negotiable. The employer decides this, and it is the same thing in the NFL.

That may be getting a little too far down the slippery slope. I'm pretty sure that even the uniform anarchists agree on that point.

I think a fine is unnecessary. I wanna know what the NFL did/does with the $25,000 they just received for 2 people that wore the wrong socks.

Regardless I think Portis and Taylor are idiots, as well as the people at the NFL calling the shots on fines and suspensions. I'd say this shows how egotistical they really are. I wouldn't put them on the same boat as T.O., but at this rate, who knows. I'm sure the rest of the skins must've been like 'What the hell? Those bastards, always trying to be better than everyone.' Or something along those lines.

And to the dousche bag at post #2, we dont give a damn that they wore the wrong socks. Just the fact that they actually got fined for it is the issue of this thread here.

Idiot.

And it's not like this is the first time the NFL fashion police catch a faux pas. But unless Portis and Taylor used the "it was really cold that night so I wore multiple pairs of socks" excuse, they know how much the leaguew is strict on their policies. Peyton Manning had a big fine when he work black low tops in honor of Johnny Unitas, when the team wore white. The point is that it's a huge issue when they try to stand out. Well they stood out, and now they pay the price.

I believe the fines go to NFL charities.

So really if you think about it, Portis and Taylor are doing a service to society. ^_^

I had noticed Taylor's candy stripe look on TV, but the shot in this thread showed me for the first time, that he, too, was asymetrical! Five stripes on one leg, four on the other...the dreaded influence of NIKE again!

I don't think $25,000 is enough for Portis. He has done this before, and he will do it again. He makes several hundred thousand dollars per game, and $25k is NOTHING for him. He will do it again because that is the kind of person/player he is, and he doesn't care if the NFL fines him.

He has been fined at least twice for the same thing. When he does it again, and he will, the fine should be $100k. After that, $250k. If he still keeps it up after his forth fine, they need to start suspending him.
