NJTank
This is ridiculous this happens way to often, and Arena or stadium should not be allowed to change it name every other year. There needs to be consistency. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
WSU151
It's been called the MCI Center since it opened in 1997. It hasn't changed every other year. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

winghaz
This shows you how bad I've gotten with those corporate names, and how they confuse me because they all seem to sound alike, but I didn't know even know where MCI Center was.
Bleujayone
There's already a Verizon Areana in Manchester, NH. Same company too.Home of the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) & the Manchester Wolves (Arena2)http://www.verizonwirelessarena.com/ We all have our little faults. Mine's in California. ZBoyer
I like how that report says that the MCI Center "revitalized the surrounding area" ... seeing as though the surrounding area is Chinatown.

slapshot
There's already a Verizon Areana in Manchester, NH. Same company too.Home of the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) & the Manchester Wolves (Arena2)http://www.verizonwirelessarena.com/ Specifically, Verizon Wireless Arena. The Arena has had that name since it opened in 2001. I haven't heard or read anyone calling it the Verizon Arena, it is always listed with Wireless.Verizon Wireless is a separate entity from other companies under the Verizon umbrella, and thus has its own advertising and sponsorships different from the main Verizon name. FiddySicks
Its like Pacific Bell/SBC/AT&T Park in San Francisco. Just call it Embarcadero Field, or Bay Area Stadium, or even sell the sponsorship rights to BArt so its back to being a Bay Area company sponsored park. They must have spent more in Signage for that damn field than they have on players. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Puck
I say give it two-three years and we'll see the first Cialis Center or Viagra Dome.
jr79
I say give it two-three years and we'll see the first Cialis Center or Viagra Dome. Only problem is the huge sign they'd need to hand underneath stating that "Viagra is a treatment for erectile dysfunction. It can cause hypotension, dizziness and may cause blindness. Consult your doctor etc etc"
VitaminD
I say give it two-three years and we'll see the first Cialis Center or Viagra Dome. If taken properly, many people see their own personal Viagra Dome when they get under the covers and find the sheets tented just south of the stomach. *rimshot* thank you... try the veal. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
ZBoyer
Your kidding me, right? Nope, dead serious. I don't really know how to prove it, other than the closest Metro stop is the Gallery Place-Chinatown stop. I remember walking through the Chinatown area with a good friend of mine last summer and then suddenly stumbling upon the MCI Center. It's on the outskirts, with only the one side of the building facing the Chinatown area, but the architecture of that side seemed to fit in pretty well. I just found it worth a chuckle. EvelethMN
Considering MCI was purchased by Verizon and the brand will no longer exist (MCi becomes Verizon Business), they pretty much had to change the name of the arena. From a logo standpoint, I think MCI's logo, while not exactly exciting, is light-years ahead of Verizon's. Verizon's logo looks like it was designed by a grade-schooler.
