Seadragon76
There is one thing missing in this whole issue: Where is Vanderjagt in all this? Did they cut him or did he become a free agent or what?
WSU151
Vanderjagt is a free agent - I'm pretty sure he entered FA after being cut. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
Shmee
A riddle! Adam Vinatieri has signed with the Colts. If Mike Vanderjagt signs with the Pats... has anything happened?Vinatieri probably signed with the Colts for two simple reasons: The first being that they were willing to pay for his leg, and that there's really only a few teams that can expect to compete for the Super Bowl each year, no matter how much "parity" there is.If Ben Roethlisberger hadn't made the luckiest tackle in NFL history, the Colts could have gone to the Super Bowl this year. Who knows what would have happened then? Now the Colts just have the unenviable task of trying to replace Edgerrin James... The world's foremost practitioners of professional tag-team wrestling. Cujo
Now the Colts just have the unenviable task of trying to replace Edgerrin James... That shouldn't be too difficult with all the talented backs in the game today. Knowing the Colts thought, I'm thinking they are going to replace James through the draft. It's possible that Indy could slide up a few spots and take DeAngelo Williams, who I think will make a very good NFL back.

Nobody seems to realize Dominic Rhodes will be a 1000 yard back in that offense. Why do I think that? Because he has been before. 1104 yards in 2001 when James was injured. The 2006 offense is much better than the 2001 offense. They won't beat the Bengals though.

DGivens87
As a Red Sox and Patriots fan, I don't hate anyone who leaves - Damon and Vinatieri included -because anyone in their right mind would leave to take more money. Period. Doesn't matter the team. I'm ashamed of those Sox and Pats fans who boo those players who go to the Yankees and Colts. Good for Adam. I'm happy for him. He deserves the best. And don't talk to me about loyalty. How many Sox fans booed Clemens & Boggs everytime they came back, even though they were the biggest reasons why the Sox were competitive from 1986-1990? How many Sox fans booed Mark Bellhorn last year, even though he was one of the biggest reasons for our postseason success in 2004? Yeah, loyalty...GOOD LUCK ADAM! DEAD!
Wow this is a huge pick up maybe Vinateiri could show Peyton Manning what Clutch means. wow, I had no idea Manning drives with an automatic transmission Well, while Vinatieri won't be needed much, they will need him in pressure situations. Good signing for the Colts I saw, I came, I left.
HatCityEnforcer
Good pickup for the Colts here....Vinatieri's definitely an upgrade from Mike "Idiot Drunken Kicker/Chokeartist" Vanderjagt. As a Jets fan, I despise the Pats, but I always had some form of respect for Vinatieri, mostly for his clutch FGs (the 2 against Oakland in the "Tuck Game/Blizzard/Last Call At Foxboro Stadium" game, SB XXXVI, SB XXXVIII)...I'll forever be indebted to him for that OT FG against Miami in Week 17 of the 2002 season, opening the door for the Jets to take the division outright, which they secured by utterly stomping the bejeezus out of the Packers Hope it works out for him in Indy....Can't say I'll won't be glad to only run into him once every 3 years now instead of twice a year FANTASY TEAMSHousatonic U. yh
rams80, along with STLFanatic, sure like to cry a lot. Maybe it's something in Rams' fans blood. Not all Rams fans question the legitimacy of the Pats' titles. The Pats were certainly the better team in SBXXXVI. And I have no qualms about the validity of the other two Lombardi's sitting in Foxboro. Just wanted to clear that up.Back on topic, this is a nice pickup for the Colts but I'm still not convinced that a slight upgrade of the kicking game is going to get the Colts any further along than they got this year. In my mind -- and it's extremely early days still -- I think the Steelers will remain the team to top in the AFC.

It matters who they sign with. We're cool with Pedro because he didn't sign with the Yankees; he signed with the Mets. Walker because he doesn't play for the Nets. D-Lowe because, again, he doesn't play for the Yankees.
