Dale Jr. to honour dad with replica car

I suppose technically this could have gone in sports logos, but I'll put it here just to be safe.

Looks like Dale Earnhardt Jr. will honour his father this weekend at Talladega by having his car painted in the black, silver and red scheme made famous by the Intimidator. Still No. 8 and still the same sponsors, though. Yahoo!

wow just beautiful. Would be cool to keep it black fulltime.

I Agree 100%, though i doubt Budwiser would allow it. Too bad NASCAR wouldnt let him also use the #3

I think having a red and black mix would have them speaking differently

it is sure good to see a black car with an Earnhardt driving again. i'm not a big Dale Jr fan but if he does win this weekend it would be pretty cool considering it would of been Dale Sr's birthday on Saturday and his last win came back at Talladega in October of 2000.

Yeah it would be sweet but i think itd still have to have more red in order for it to pass, especially since black isnt a huge part of Bud's look. it is used, but red IS Budweiser

Actually, it is RCR and Teresa Earnhardt that own the rights to #3. He would have to get special permission from them to use the number. The only regulation that NASCAR had over the number was when they put the moratorium on the #3 for the remainder of the 2001 season.

On a side note, I've got to get the model version of that car. I was a huge Dale Sr. fan, but also like Dale Jr. too. However, Harvick is still my favorite driver. It was so good seeing him beat Biffle for the win last week.

Wow. Thats... almost spooky. I'm not sure if this is an awesome honor, or an odd abuse of a legends paint scheme. I guess since it is Jr. its all good. Thought, it still looks odd to me.

I'm feeling a top 5 for Jr. If the sports is as orchestrated as some say, there is no way they let this paint scheme, in its first return to the track, have engine problems and finish 38th

He should go back to the baseball car, that was awesome.

Actually it's just Richard Childress who owns the right to the #3 as far as putting it on a car. Teresa Earnhardt might have some ownership in the "stylized 3" that is sold on souveniers and stickers and whatnot.

That paint scheme was a one-time deal to sponsor the MLB All-Star game that year.

He won't be "going back" to it most likely.

I'm not saying he could, but I thought the pinstripes were kind of a neat idea.
