Edmontons is way too loud, but New Jersey's kicks butt

I like Edmontons. Makes the crowed and louder and pumped up for the oliers. It worked in last nites game...

I like Montreals, cus the song they play after the Horn, gets the fans going for some reason.

I've always liked it if for nothing but the fact it is differnt than the usual suspects (Train/fog/ generic air horns). Once upon a time, the Louisiana IceGators had a horn like the Sens, but they switched it to a train horn. Coincidently (or not!), the team went downhill from there and folded 2 years ago.

The Ottawa horn is supposed to be a Canadian National Railway train horn.

Not to be biased, but I gotta go with the Sharks. The story on it is, that its a real fog horn that was slated to be used at Alcatraz. The original was repaired and the Sharks got this one installed in time for the 1994 playoffs. The horn is so loud when tested prior to the opening of the doors before a game, a warning has to be issued through the arena because the horn tends to vibrate some of the walls at the Tank.

As a personal experience, when I did Shark for a Day, we had about 50 people plus the players, and when the first goal was scored, many of us jumped because the horn is so loud when there isn't 17,496 people in the building.

Did you shutter like when you hear a loud, crackling, booming thunder right after seeing a bolt of lightning?

They were testing the horn at Philips the night before the first preseason game, and I about jumped out of my shoes when the horn first sounded.

That stuff's loud, man.....

I ahve to say San jose has a sweet horn, especially with the chant after the horn is done.

But the best in the NHL is by far Colorado's. Its not so much the horn thats so great, its the saying after the horn. "I swear ive seen a lot of stuff in my life, but THAT-WAS-AWESOME!!!!!!"

How in the hell can you beat a Tommy Boy quote?

OK, can I be a homer?

The Toronto horn before this season is my personal favourite. That bit from Let's Get Ready To Rumble should've stayed with the horn this season.

Otherwise, I gotta go with Anaheim. Loud, low, and long.

Or Calgary's 16-second ear-splitter.

Or Hartford's BRASS BONANZA. No wait, that's a goal song, never mind.

Wow, I hadn't heard that one before (thanks Cox for pulling OLN). But after checking it out on the 2KHockey site this is my new favorite. You can't beat a Tommy Boy quote. Any idea what the other clip between the Tommy Boy quote and the Austin Powers quote is? It almost sounds like a Will Ferrell quote.

And so I don't miss out on the homer votes, I gotta say the Coyote's horn isn?t anything special but I love the playing of "Werewolves of London" after the horn.

It is a Will Ferrell quote, from Old School. Talking to his 80 year old pledge "Blue"

Buffalo's horn, beacuse it means the Sabres just scored.

Truth is, you can't answer this without being a homer. Who wants to hear another team's horn?

Objective, non-homerish answer:

1. Chicago - the original is still the best.

2. Buffalo - a quarter-step below Chicago's, and one of the older ones as well (although every time that f***ing thing went off, it meant Esche was sweeping rubber out of his net... :cursing: Sabres).

3. Dallas - best of the new horns. Melodic and loud.

4. Philadelphia (Tampa, etc.) - MAJOR upgrade from the wimpy horn they had before. I was at the game where they debuted it, and they didn't make a big deal about it. All of a sudden in the shootout, there it was. Rattled your innards, in a good way.

5. Pittsburgh - the air raid siren is unique and kinda cool.

On the other hand:

1. Ottawa's horn is abysmal. I know it's supposed to be a Canadian national train horn, but if that's so, Canadian trains need new horns. That's just sorry.

2. Montreal's is no better. Wimpy.

3. Washington's police siren is ear-splittingly awful.

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Here's my faves...

Dallas -- Long and annoying for the opposition...just the way it should be.

Atlanta -- Probably the LOUDEST of em all in the NHL.

Chicago -- The grandaddy of em all.

Buffalo -- Right behind Chicago on the old school scale.

NY Rangers -- Homer pick here, but it's not bad...

Detroit -- I actually like this one since they upped the dB level on it...also, I like how they have specific songs for players after goals (example: Shanahan scores, they play some sort of Irish jig)

Edmonton -- That thing is MUCH louder than I thought it was...

And my not so faves

New Jersey -- It's not a bad horn, but jeez, can ya up the dB's on it? It's hard to hear even during a REGULAR season game when most of the fans are dressed as empty pink seats.

Boston -- Another one that's almost non existant...then again, with the way Jacobs spends on his team, it doesn't shock me that he went ALL OUT to get a loud horn :upside:

Montreal -- This one used to be cool until they ditched the old goal song for U2s Vertigo.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Atlanta's but this is why:

I havent heard any others in person. I went to a Bruins game, a Hurricane's game, and a Stars game, and all three of them got shut out.

You think you can attend all 41 of the Thrashers' away games next season?

Actually, they dont use that anymore.

However the horn only points to the one corner of the arena where the pens only soot once. So you have to sit there to get the full effect. I guess its since most out-of-towners usually sit there they want to rub it in when we score.
