whitedawg22
I was looking at random stuff on eBay while at work today, and I came across this:Supposedly it's a game worn 1996 Georgia Tech jersey. My question is...WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE JERSEY?!Does that middle part go between their legs, as some kind of device to keep the jersey tucked in? If it is, wouldn't opposing players give them monster wedgies anytime there was a pileup? Or is it simply a strangely cut jersey, making me sorely mistaken about the unitard hypothesis?I've never seen this before, but it looks like it's straight out of Bad Idea Jeans. KJTALBOT
It's called a onesi. My 8 month old wears them. Of course, she also wears it with diapers, not a football helmet.
LuvTheNats
Lineman's jersey perhaps??
buckeyenut
I believe they wrap-around and button in the front. They are suppose to help keep the jersey tucked in. I think only O-lineman wear them.
NY Jay
It comes complete with diaper and binkie.
Gothamite
It comes complete with diaper and binkie. I'd watch it there before you besmirch anyone wearing this style of jersey. It was perhaps more common in the first half of the 20th Century, when players had but a fraction of the padding that they wore now and played both sides of the ball. Not exactly babies.... Discrim
heh, I remember in my sophomore year of high school, the freshmen and sophs wore some practice jerseys straight outta the 70s to go with our 80s gamers. I noticed on my jersey, as well as those of other linemen, either a button flap or the last remnants of one that'd been cut off.

Haha, I was joking. It's just an unusual looking jersey.

jimsimo
It is a lineman jersey. It attaches at the bottom to ensure it does not become untucked. This would only be used for linemen (#s 50-79).We had these in college for offensive linemen.

FiddySicks
So what happens if your lady wants to wear your other jersey to the game?
rtrich11
At the College Football Hall of Fame they have a few of these from the 40s, like Frank Sinkwich's from Georgia. They were long sleeved and a made from a real heavy material. Can you imagine how hot that would be? Hopefully no chafing.

sc49erfan15
I have a game-used Carolina Panthers jersey like this (no, I don't wear it, it's a size 50...but I picked it up at Goodwill for $3.79, so suck it) ...it's called a crotchpiece, and it's to keep the jersey from coming untucked. It's not THAT weird...a few teams have jerseys with complete leg holes...I'm assuming that those button up on the inside, because the whole jersey is one piece with no breaks in the front or back.Basically, I think everyone would agree that jerseys look better tucked (on players) and this helps the untuckiness from happening. Tazz013
I'm assuming that those button up on the inside, because the whole jersey is one piece with no breaks in the front or back. I think the front and back are swen together around 'The U'-shaped cutout. Sorry for the pun.Not only does it prevent the jersey from coming untucked, but it also keeps it tight to the body, giving the other guys less material to grab.
