...and Florida drops Georgia in the Game That Used to be Called the World's largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

It's a shame that they went away from that name -- it was my personal favorite. I can't imagine people getting any less drunk just because it's no longer called that.

If anything, knowing folks down here in the South, they're going to get even more drunk just to stick it to the higher-ups. That, and Michael Adams (President of UGA who proposed this) isn't well liked to begin with, so they'd do it just to spite him. Shame they can't win to save their life now.

Well, that game is important too... I just rather see Rutgers take the BCS bid from the Big East. I'm not that impressed with West Virginia and don't get me started on what I think of Louisville.

Now, on to something else in College Football world: Canned coaches. North Carolina is going to be looking for one after Bunting says that he'll step down at the end of the year.

You might as well add Iowa State to that list, cause I don't see McCarney surviving this season. 3-6 and 0-5 in the Big 12 for a team that was supposed to compete for the North Division title... That's a shame.

Gotta figure Smith's gone at Michigan State after they got smacked down by Indiana. To go with the loss to Illinois.

Also nope we weren't looking ahead to the Missouri game not at all...

Oklahoma State 41, Nebraska 29

(Thank God Missouri lost too.)

Not neccessarily over the past, but this year: They've been a little bit overrated, due to the fact that they were winning games, but it didn't seem like it jumped out at you to say that "Wow, this is the #3 team in the country."

Now, there's only one team that it is clear where they need to be, and that's Ohio State. As for #2 and beyond, it is anybody's game. These next 3 months should be fun as hell.

Graham Harrell, in part due to absolutely no run support whatsoever, has over 500 yds. passing against Texas and still lost.

That's because the officials gave the game to Texas with that bogus pass interference call that sealed the deal. Remind me again how defencive pass interference is when the wide receiver climbs on the back of a defencive back in order to prevent an interception. Of course, this should be all germane, as Texas Tech should have scored late, but that's inexcusable. Once again, Texas squeaks by an inferior team, and will remain vastly overrated in the polls tomorrow morning. :therock:

BTW, most apt name in college football: Jim Bob Cooter, QB for University of Tennessee

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

Getting death threats from a team's fanbase has a tendency to do that for voters.

Well, I still can't understand how Tennessee is ahead of Florida in the polls when Florida beat Tennessee in Knoxville. I guess the voters are looking at the win against Cal very favourably, but anyone with half a bit of sense that watched the game would obviously see that Cal was in such disarray that even Mississippi State would have put up 30 points on them. My top 15 would look quite similar to what the BCS standings will probably look like on Sunday, but with a few changes:

1. Ohio State

2. Michigan

3. West Virginia

4. Auburn

5. Florida

6. Louisville

7. Notre Dame

8. California

9. Texas

10. Southern California

11. Tennessee

12. Arkansas

13. Rutgers

14. Boise State

15. Boston College

Time to roll out another legitimate look at how the bowls would shape up if the season would end today.

BCS TITLE GAME: Ohio State (Big Ten Leader) v Michigan (At-Large/AQ)

Rose Bowl: Cal (Pac-10 Leader) v West Virginia (Big East Leader)

Sugar Bowl: Arkansas (SEC Leader) v Louisville (At-Large)

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech (ACC Leader) v Florida (At-Large/AQ)

Fiesta Bowl: Texas (Big XII Leader) v Boise State (WAC Leader/AQ)

To explain:

By rule, the four at-large bids must include #2 Michigan (top 2), #4 Florida (top 4 and #3 WVU not an at-large), and #14 Boise State (top 16 and higher than ACC leader Georgia Tech).

OSU is considered the leader of the Big Ten due to the "Rose Bowl Rule", disqualifying Michigan.

WVU is considered the leader of the Big East due to being ranked higher than Louisville and Rutgers.

Georgia Tech is the leader of the ACC due to head to head over Maryland. Boston College and Wake Forest are eliminated due to having more losses in division than Maryland.

National title game takes #1 OSU and #2 Michigan.

Rose Bowl gets #10 Cal, Sugar Bowl gets #13 Arkansas, Fiesta Bowl gets #7 Texas, and Orange Bowl gets #20 Georgia Tech, by contractual agreement.

Since the Rose Bowl lost the Big Ten leader to the title game, they take the next best eligible, #3 West Virginia.

The Sugar Bowl gets the next choice. Rather than taking #4 Florida, they take #5 Louisville, to avoid setting up a conference rematch in the bowl game.

Then the Orange Bowl chooses. They choose #4 Florida.

Finally, the Fiesta Bowl is required to take #14 Boise State.

Colt Brennan added on to his college football domination by going 31 for 38 for 333yards and 5 TDs and didn't play the 4th quarter and the last like 6mins of the 3rd quarter.

Now Brennan has a 185.00 QB rating for the season...

Oh yeah Hawai'i beat Idaho 68-10... the same idaho team that put up 24 against Boise State...

Florida's the SEC's no. 1, thanks to the BCS ranking being the tiebreaker after head-to-head in SEC tiebreakers. Regardless, if Florida runs the table, they, or the winner of Louisville/West Virginia, is going to be No. 2 in the BCS unless the loser of Ohio St.-Michigan loses on like a last-second play. And even then, the absolute worst thing for the BCS would be a rematch with a one-loss Florida and undefeated West Virginia sitting out, much less an undefeated Boise St. Of course, I'm all for BCS chaos, but that would be completely ridiculous.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. What tiebreaker applies in the SEC right now? Arkansas is the only undefeated team in the SEC, so I have them as the defacto SEC leader.

It sounds retarded (because it is), but the SEC refers to the team at the top of the BCS rankings for the conference as the No. 1 team when looking at the conference as a whole. Granted, it's rarely done, as the division standings are talked about first and foremost, but when you're conference commissioner is the head of the BCS, you tend to do retarded things by default. *shrugs shoulders*
