COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2007

If Louisville had gotten through WVU, and undefeated Rutgers, most people (not in the SEC) would have been okay with them in the National Championship game. However, it seems like Rutgers has a chance to get through Louisville and WVU. Following the logic, Rutgers should be as equally deserving to get to the big game, right?

U of L's only big win outside of conference was against a bad Miami team, and Rutgers' biggest nonconference win was at Illinois, also not a big deal.

However, I see Rutgers losing to WVU (no idea where that game is played) and the Big East becoming the SEC North, which a bunch of good 1-loss teams. Pity.

The game is at West Virginia.

I believe John Saunders summed up the problem here farely well. It's like a horse winning a horserace, and then afterwards being disqualified because nobody thought he was good enough to win before the race. I don't hate the BCS as much as most, but there's a problem when you're disqualifying teams from being able to win the Championship before the season ever starts.

If Rutgers goes undeafted they should be in the National Championship game. But because the southern and midwesterners won't be able to handle that a northeastern, pro sports town, school is actually good at college football they won't. It's a shame because they are a great story but college football doesn't allow for those out of nowhere national title runs. It is why college football in general is a joke.

Here's to a Maryland-Rutgers Orange Bowl!

Don't be jackasses. I was born and raised on the SEC, and I would love to see Rutgers in it.

That's great to hear, because it puts you on par with rational sports fan that enjoy moments like Rutgers 2006, George Mason 2005, and Villanova 1984 -- teams coming out of nowhere to accomplish great things. College football tends to proffer lots of entitlement; that there are certain legitimate conferences and other untouchable ones.

I think Rutgers in a National Championship game could, in a weird way, give the BCS legitimacy. Bending over to irrational SEC fans wouldn't. Again, I'm happy to hear from an SEC fan that wouldn't mind seeing Rutgers get the NC nod over Florida, Auburn, or Arkansas. Based on what ESPN and SI.com tell me, you're in the vast, vast minority.

Agreed. Like I said before, if you go undefeated in a BCS conference, you should go to the NC. If Rutgers beats WV, I think they should go, and if they don't, the BCS is a sham. And I don't wanna hear anything about "Oh they didn't play anybody so they don't deserve it." MANY champions have played "nobodies" and yet, in the end, they were awarded the national championship. Prime example is the 1990 "National Champion" Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Screwed Colorado & Alabama in one fell swoop. Also, BYU won the 'ship in 82 I think, and they played in the HOLIDAY BOWL.

As for the NC Situation in which it relates to the Michigan-Ohio St. Game, I sure hope a 1966 doesn't happen. I think in 1966, Notre Dame was #1 and Michigan St. was #2. The two teams tied, and Notre Dame won the national championship. But who went undefeated that year? Alabama. So yeah, if that happens again I'm calling :censored:

With that being said, Georgia is giving #5 Auburn the business right now. 30-7 as we speak. So subtract Auburn from the numerous number of contenders.

And in the 106th Monon Bell Classic (The oldest Division III Rivalry west of the Alleghanies), Wabash knocks off DePauw 23-20.

lol, Notre Dame's right back in the thick of it. Which means that, the way things are going now, the USC-Notre Dame game this year might be just as important as it was last year.

Which hopefully means it will be fun as hell to watch.

And I know I'm staying at the house next weekend when #1 v #2 play.

California has just lost to Arizona, where is Eric right about now to bask in the glory?

The teams who lost I wouldn't doubt this will be our top 5 next week

1. Ohio State

2. Michigan

3. Florida

4. Texas

5. USC

Freaking Notre Dame picturing themselves back into the National Championship as the number 6 team

No Texas?

And why is it so strange that Notre Dame is putting themselves back in the picture? Sure, their loss was ugly... but it was to the #2 team in the Nation.

Arizona beats #8 Cal 24-20. What an upset

Cal played really sloppy today. 10 of Arizona's points came off of Longshore interceptions. However, I can't believe Tedford didn't do anything to strengthen his defensive line and reinforce the pass protection. And also, those epic failure of referees hold a big chunk of responsibility; not calling that offensive pass interference in the endzone was rediculous. Fire all the Pac-10 refs, I say.

My Top 5

1. Ohio St.

2. Michigan

3. Florida

4. Texas

5. USC

If Florida wins out, how much money does anyone want to bet that they end up going to the Championship???

I'd take that bet, actually. They were .002 points above Texas this week in the BCS.

Short of Texas losing, they will be #4 this week. I don't see Texas losing the rest of the way.
