Sabres wearing 3rd jerseys tonight

Did anyone else notice that the throwback logo's also used on the back of their helemts, even when they're wearing their regular jerseys?

Yeah, I agree with whoever said this an omen of things to come in the NHL. That could very well mean the end of the Rangers diagonal script.

I actually don't think so. They would probably do what they did with the all star game a few years ago in Minnesota with the patch and put the front numbers on the other side. Of course in the case of captains the letter and number would be on the same side like it was for the All-Star game.

I think it's more like a Milwauke Brewers' "hey look it's kind of throwbackish!" thing going on. It's a throwback in a sense but obviously not 100%. If you ask me, if you're gonna throwback, then go all out like the Chargers do. They even make the endzone fonts old-school. Now that's cool.

Since I was never a fan of the old unis--it's not a big deal--but the shorts striping looks odd with this.

At least they did an older style sock...

But the worst thing is the buffaslug on the helmet.

That is messed up. What exactly were they thinking when they put this together? Did they draw the uniform combo out of a hat?

That uniform looks really, really, REALLY bad with the "new blue" pants and helment... especially with the slug on the lid. Really.

Ahhh. I cant believe im accually suprised at how horrible they attempted to half ass the alts. God forbid the city of Buffalo getting an MLB team. That city doesnt need any more ugly.

doing them at all. They scrambled to show the jerseys in mid-summer and then when they did show them at the open practice they did not have the number on the front. If they're going to only wear these at home, there's no excuse not to have a seperate set of helmets and pant shells to match up. Laziness and stupidty combine to make horrible decisions.

I think the numbers on the front of the throwbacks looks pretty good.

But is it just me or are the pants and helmet a darker shade of blue than the jersey and socks? I think that's what makes it look so mismatched.

The Oilers are apparently wearing throwback this year following Christmas. Their President, Pat Laforge, mentioned that they would be the classics with a modern twist. I wonder whether he meant the classic blue and orange, with the numbers on the front (like the Sabres)? Perhaps?

Apparently they arn't bothering to match the pants and helmets because in a few years they're going to change the throwbacks' colours to match the Buffaslug home and road jerseys.

What the hell does Buffalo not having a MLB team have to do with anything? Buffalo has more right to a MLB team that South Florida does. And for God's sakes, get off of the Sabres. It's over, it's done with, deal.

Agreed. This is the way it is. Nothing we can do to change it. Why keep yelling about it? Heck, the team's winning. That in itself is a heck of a lot more important than what they're wearing.

Pretty freakin' brutal, eh? If there ever was a city that could screw up a free lunch at the rescue mission it's BUFFALO! They wear the retros with the stupid numbers on the upper chest, the new crappy pants and the Buffaslug helmets. Another Buffalo sports team faux pas to compare it to is the Thanksgiving game at Detroit a few years ago. The Bills wore their retro uniforms with RED helmets and a WHITE standing bison. Why does either team bother to go retro. They'll just screw it up. Save yourselves the ridicule.
