how the hell did the nuggets get two first round draft picks, didnt they trade 3 to the nets for kenyon martin.

No, they didn't trade for Martin, they signed him as a free agent. The Nuggets haven't used a first round pick since they drafted Carmelo. They got the second one for next year from the Bulls in enchange for their #1 pick in 2006.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure they took Julius Hodge in the 1st round a few years ago.

That is correct. They've also drafted, I think, two others. Jameer Nelson is one that I know for sure -- he was shipped off to Orlando -- and I think Jarrett Jack, but he may have been a second rounder. Those two are no longer with the Nuggets and I don't think they lasted beyond the night they were drafted.

Great deal seemingly for both sides. For the Sixers, they get the expiring contract in Smith, Webber and Miller will be done after '08 and Mashburn and McCulloch (sp?) comes off the books this year. The 2 draft picks give them 3 1st rounders in the upcoming draft. There is a chance, a good chance, that they will suck enough to land Greg Oden (*crosses fingers*) or Joakim Noah without having to trade up, which gives them outstanding flexibility with the remaining picks. Also, in the short term Andre Miller will be able to help Iggy, Korver, Green, Dalembert and Carney develop because they will not have to create their own shot and will get the ball in the best positions to make plays. Smart decision by Billy King. All of a sudden the Sixers seem to have a direction and a plan, which is amazing given the last few years. Let's see where things go from here.

Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

I completely forgot about Hodge, he's buried down on the 14ers I think. I was in Chicago this year during the draft, so that's how I found out about the trading of picks with them.

I hope Hodge turns out to be something better than Skita, as I'm sure everyone would agree that was one wasted first round pick.

I will now make a wild prediction of a future Nuggets game...

Announcer #1: Oh, and there appears to be another shoving match down there under the basket.

Announcer #2: Who's it between, Bob?

Announcer #1: That's just it, I only see Nuggets players down there so far, I don't see anyone from the other team...

Announcer #2: I don't think there is anyone from the other team, Bob. It looks like it's between teammates fighting over the ball.

Announcer #1: Teammates? Any idea who?

Announcer #2: Well, I'm not sure, now the whole team is trying to peel these two off each other.

Announcer #1: I can just guess. Omigawd! Was that a explosion coming outta that pile?

Announcer #2: Yeah Bob, It seemed at least one inflated ego just exploded. Whoa! There goes another one!

We all have our little faults. Mine's in California.

The wildcard is Iguodala. All along, everyone's said he's a star in the making but his development has been hampered by having a guy like Iverson on the team.

We'll see. The guy pulls off some nice dunks, but I haven't seen much more from him. In fact, he's gotten worse this year.

Yeah, I never really understood why teams liked Iguodala so much before the draft, but his rookie year he showed some nice flashes, Since then it seems like it's gone down hill.

Miller's a very good point guard. He should be able to help a lot with the progression of Philly's players. I loved him in Denver, he just didn't fit what we're trying to do. While the gameplan is to run, run, run... he seemed more comfortable when he took his time.

I guess the biggest concern is defense for the Nuggets. A lot of people say no team in the League will be able to stop this team from scoring, but we won't be able to stop anyone either. And well, we already couldn't before this trade. AI's not that bad of a defender. He'll get some steals to start the break.

Yep, Miller was miscast in Denver. And he was usually upstaged by quicker point guards like Boykins or Earl Watson. Getting out of there and into a more halfcourt set (like his college days under Majerus) is gonna help.

Yea, I'm guessing Iguodala will become the face of the team with Iverson gone.

I don't watch alot of NBA, so FWIW I think this is a good trade for both teams. The Iverson deal comes at the right time since he should be able to step in for Anthony's suspension (that ends in a month if his appeal doesn't go through). So they shouldn't lose alot of ground. From what I can tell Iverson really wants to win a championship. As long as Iverson realizes this is Carmelo's team he should be fine. I don't mean bend over backwords for Melo, but don't try and outshine him. As for the Sixers the three draft choices could really help them rebuild. Iguodala and Korver seem like solid players to build around. They should get a top five selection with their pick which could get them Oden, Kevin Durant, Brendan Wright, HaSheem Thabeet, or Joakim Noah all solid big men (there the top 5 picks on NBAdraft.net). The other two picks are probably going to be later in the first round. But they still should be able to get another solid big man (Hansbourgh might fall back) and maybe a decent PG (although there aren't too many it seems).
